I have been working at Santa Clara Family Health Plan full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Most people who work here are dedicated people who show up to work every day and try really hard to follow the company mission for the members.

    Cons

Executive team doesn’t know or doesn’t care what the staff that shows up to work does every day. Spend 5 minutes in a day with your people. Heard that somehow the Board Directors didn’t get to discuss the last poor employee satisfaction survey that negatively pointed problems at the staff’s lack of trust with the executive team and poor c-level leadership who are rarely in the office. Morale is getting worse every day....

I have been working at Santa Clara Family Health Plan full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

New Building. Its obvious some departments work very well together and others do not. Its about the leadership or lack thereof.

    Cons

Most of the Executive Team have good intentions and want the place to succeed. One member of the executive team likes to play favorites, RULES by intimidation, plays staff against each other and spends time playing games.

    Advice to Management

Drop the dead weight on the Executive team. Staff with quality members and replace the one who wants to play games. The place has huge potential with the right leadership in place.

I have been working at Santa Clara Family Health Plan full-time for less than a year

      Pros

      - Friendly coworkers. People are always smiling and say hi when passing. - Brand new office space (with gym, very modern, start-up feel) - Overall casual dress, with the exception of audits and formal meetings - Opportunities to learn about different programs (you need to be genuinely interested and ask a lot of questions) - Bonuses depending on your department

      Cons

      - Slow, slow, painfully slow programs and not tech-advanced. SCFHP uses 3rd party vendor platforms and does not hire engineers/developers to build their own platform. This means that many processes are roundabout, somewhat clunky. This has been especially frustrating especially if you come from a more "tech" friendly company. Their main platform which used to access Members looks like it was created in 2003 and has not...

      Advice to Management

      - We're not a tech company, but invest in better technology in order to give your employees the tools they need to do their jobs efficiently. This will affect the Member experience, and satisfaction. Right now it's down right painful at times.

CEO Well intended Good co-worker comradeship Many smart people Good work life balance

      Cons

The current CIO is incompetent. He has an aversion to technical advances, Manages by fear, and not respected by his employees. Worst CIO I have ever seen or worked for. I hope he sees this, takes it to heart that he needs to change.

      Advice to Management

Replace your CIO before you lose your entire IT department. Listen to your employees
