I have been working at Santa Clara University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You have a lot of free time while working as a lab monitor.

    Cons

    salary is not that high.

    Advice to Management

Those who are late or absent for their shift should be fired.

I have been working at Santa Clara University full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The job is not too stressful

    Cons

The raises this year were insulting. The 2% base raise was reduced by senior management to divert funds for performers and the mid-management did the same. The raise did not even cover parking fees. I am quite disgruntled and the "we are all a happy community" line is starting to wear thin.

    Advice to Management

Limit salary raise hold backs and start calculating the cost undervaluing your workers. Half a percent of a salary is worth the productivity you gain.

One more thing, tell the parking lot office to stop spending money on ridiculously expensive and over cautious hi-tech gadgets. Nobody believes the always inaccurate open parking space counter anyway.

I worked at Santa Clara University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very close-knit campus community, and not in an annoying or suffocating way - in a genuinely friendly and cooperative way.

    Great benefits.

    Good work-life balance.

A very positive and cheerful place to work, with a strong sense of mission.

Universities can be notorious for poor internal communication and a lot of bureaucracy, but SCU is actually managed fairly well and it felt like morale was always good.

    Cons

    Salaries are low.

Transportation and transit perks/benefits could be stronger.

If you're not Catholic, you can sometimes feel a little bit isolated from parts of the campus community.

I have been working at Santa Clara University full-time

    Pros

Good co-workers. Nice environment and campus.

    Cons

Salaries are below market standards. Can't live in the bay area and work here.

    Advice to Management

Start running it more like a business. Get away from "well this is how we've always done it".

  10. "The job is easy but extremely useful"

I have been working at Santa Clara University part-time

    Pros

There is always a need for test proctors but you don't necessarily have to have laser sharp attention the entire time

    Cons

Sometimes work is sparse and random since the students are allowed to schedule their own tests
