I worked at Santa Clara University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great bosses. Learned at a lot.

    Cons

Sometimes I wonder if I could have been pushed a little more to more proactive. With maybe just a tap on the shoulder.

    Advice to Management

Good work as far as helping student workers.

I worked at Santa Clara University full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Very close-knit campus community, and not in an annoying or suffocating way - in a genuinely friendly and cooperative way.

    Great benefits.

    Good work-life balance.

A very positive and cheerful place to work, with a strong sense of mission.

Universities can be notorious for poor internal communication and a lot of bureaucracy, but SCU is actually managed fairly well and it felt like morale was always good.

    Cons

    Salaries are low.

Transportation and transit perks/benefits could be stronger.

If you're not Catholic, you can sometimes feel a little bit isolated from parts of the campus community.

I worked at Santa Clara University as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Great leadership, especially the new dean of the Business School.
Interesting students, most of them eager to learn and to contribute to society.
Small intimate setting, easy to access colleagues.
    Close connection with students.

    Cons

A lot of training to use all of the software required to teach.
High demands in terms of time, even as a part time lecturer, students expect you to answer on a daily basis, and meet at their request.
Large body of contract lecturers, hard to find solutions if there are problems.
    Very low pay.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Santa Clara University part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

As a student, it is important to me that I establish as many ties as possible during my attendance at SCU.

    Cons

My time working at Santa Clara University has been overwhelmingly positive and I would recommend it to anyone.

    Advice to Management

Santa Clara University does an outstanding job of listening to the opinions and inputs of its constituency in order to ensure that the school's value system reflects a place that people want to be.

I have been working at Santa Clara University as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

I learnt a lot as we did everything from scratch. Getting hands on experience with back-end programming of examination portal for students and admins and getting exposure to project management practices.

    Cons

For me, equity as a domain was new. But one gets to learn on the go.

I have been working at Santa Clara University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Super positive staff and coworkers. Everyone believes wholeheartedly in the causes that FAI puts time and energy into every day. Great food and gatherings.

    Cons

The office does not have good natural light. The pay is pretty marginal for the amount of work that goes into the research (which is the meat and veggies of the institute).

    Advice to Management

pay the students more! allow students to log overtime hours when we do work overtime, instead of cutting them short and adding on to another day...
