I worked at Savage full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

The lessons learned there over my time there.

    Cons

No advancement especially if your a woman.Safety is a joke. They do all they can to try and get top dollar. The positive comments on here are all solicitated by their talent acquisition team. I’ve seen them do it. They will take and take from you at Savage and you will not get recognized or a raise . Their benefits are terrible.Don’t waste your time.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of your egos and sit down and talk to some of the people who have been loyal to you and not just the middle management.

I have been working at Savage full-time

    Pros

Savage has great job security with fixed-fee long-term contracts in very diversified industries. You have all the benefits and perks of working for a large corporation but still the culture and feel of a smaller family oriented company. Best part about the job - the people you work with. Very safety oriented, great benefits, good management styles

    Cons

A few isolated layoffs in some parts of the country over the last 3 years due to the oil market.

    Advice to Management

Retain the culture the Savage Bothers established, but still move forward with next-generation ideas and strategies.

I worked at Savage full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay initially looked good but after working there after a few weeks, realized was underpaid. Knowing you only work 12 hours if your lucky.

    Cons

This company is nothing like their mission statement. All employees are expected to work like dogs, no matter their role. Know many managers wanting to leave or activity trying.

    Advice to Management

Stop the buddy system. Actions speak louder than words. All talk, no action.

    I worked at Savage full-time

    Pros

Good colleagues, good tools, good benefits

    Cons

Some supervisors were there only because of the "tenure" with the company and did not perform well in duties, so more fell back on me.

    Advice to Management

Review all employees, including supervisors, on their actual performance

I have been working at Savage full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

This company is one of the best out there! Anyone that is derogatory about safety here probably was let go for not being able to adapt to the very strong safety culture here.
Advancement opportunities are wide open here. They give good employees every opportunity to advance, but the employee has to take the opportunity.
I have never seen a company that believes and practices fairness and integrity as much as this one. Unfortunately some do not understand that fairness applies to all, the company, the customer, and the employee...not just their own agenda.
One of the most financially responsible companies that I have ever seen. Very generous with profit sharing. I have had the maximum deposited into my 401K (3% of my gross pay) every year for the 13 that I have had the honor of working here.
The company matches 1/2 of what I put into 401K up to 8% of my monthly income.

    Cons

Expectations are very high for each employee to 'do their job'. For those that just want a paycheck, this company is probably not for you!
We are going through growing pains. However, the growth just is creating more opportunities for the employees.

    Advice to Management

Grow, but make damn sure we are growing smart and not just for growth's sake

    Pros

Decent starting pay. Great co-workers was the best part of the job. Not much other than that. Not a career.

    Cons

No raises, no sick time, management buddy system, unsafe work practices allowed and encouraged. This is a job you work in between finding a career. Very dirty work.

    Advice to Management

Operation managers need more supervision from GM.
