I worked at Save the Children for more than a year

    Pros

We had a very capable, inspiring program manager who understood the issues well, could navigate both the government and donor world and who was supportive to both expats and nationals. My local colleagues were highly committed, smart and eager to teach and learn.

    Cons

Always difficult to be bound by donor contracts and demands. Internal politics and funding changed priorities and staffing.

    Advice to Management

Work to be sure that there is a cohesive atmosphere among all -- not one culture for the expats and one for the nationals. Some nationals were not receiving a living wage as expats were frequently on holiday.
