Collaborated with team project. Transform 3D visual to 2D animation

    Cons

It was a student project not the real job.

I worked at Scad Group full-time

    Pros

Great facilities, events, wonderful town — access to creative talent, innovators, and opportunity to be a part of shaping the future of an institution.

    Cons

High drama, lots of "clicks" among staff (feels a bit like high school), executive leadership lives in fear of President Paula Wallace and her family resulting in a fear-based culture which makes generating lasting and actionable strategy almost impossible.

    Advice to Management

Trust the specialists and proven-leaders you hire to do what they do best. Micro-management as the scale SCAD and SCAD Group is now will ultimately degrade the institution.

    Positive Outlook

    Pros

Very relaxed environment and relaxed work-hours as well.

    Cons

Compensation isn't great and there is a tendency for people to lag behind on projects.

    Advice to Management

Work hard in your departments. The station has great equipment so take advantage of that and learn as much as possible!

    Pros

Some of the best facilities in the world

    Cons

Teachers have not been in the VFX industry for a long time. If you are not staying up to date on your own you will fail.

    Advice to Management

More teachers fresh from the industry

I have been working at Scad Group full-time

    Pros

Free tuition benefit for self, spouse. One class per term but you can't take time off work to use it.

    Cons

Low pay, increase in responsibilities without increase in pay, little or no support from supervisors. Low morale due to constant restructuring, staff layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Direct supervisors should know how to do the job of the people they supervise, or at least have a vague idea.

I worked at Scad Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Avery well respected higher education institution with talented students and staff.

    Cons

Constant competition among coworkers and overall fear of downsizing/changing in departments.

    Advice to Management

Encourage workers to yield better results. Putting people down and eluding to letting them go only creates a stressful work environment.
