I have been working at Schindler Elevator Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The company has good retirement matching and good benefits programs. Many of the low level manager are very willing to reach across Isles and help others.

    Cons

Lots of managers all seem to look out for their own jobs over all possible others. We have man process and a lot of them are not synergistic.

    Advice to Management

Break down the silos and get upper management to work WITH their teams, not LORD over them like busy deities.

I worked at Schindler Elevator Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

#1 Great learning curve. You learn A LOT about corporate business. #2 State of the art products #3 Coworkers are friendly, nice, and always willing to share their knowledge

      Cons

#1 Completely obtuse and close minded. They are still living in the 20th Century in all corporate fields (HR, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Finance). I don't understand why don't they update their mindsets and use 21st Century resources. #2 Promotion from Mid to upper management is impossible, unless you have extreme superb political skills. There is no meritocracy at all. Only preferred people who are friends with...

      Advice to Management

Hire and Promote smart people. Don't hire or promote people just because they look nice or they are nice. Technicians and mechanics won't do their job well if they are not treated fairly. Train your employees so that they are able to leave your company. Treat them even better, so they will not want to leave. Take advantage of technological resources of the 21st Century. Pros

Great Company with lots of support

      Cons

Schindler is a company with many silos. Sometimes, the goals of each silo conflict with each other.

      Advice to Management

Look at the business as a whole in lieu of short term gains in specific areas of the business.

I worked at Schindler Elevator Corporation full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Good pay, travel opportunities. That's about it.

      Cons

Schindler really is a fantastic company to work for as long as you're not in the Cleveland office. My experience there was miserable - lots of unprofessional people, company policies not being abided by, harassment going on. The people in that office will suck every ounce of happiness right out of you.

      Advice to Management

When people have concerns, listen to them...

      Pros

The Company is Well Structured-Especially NYC Operation

      Cons

OHIO is the pits - very political, very disorganized, armature hour.

      Advice to Management

Follow the Leaders When It Comes To Safety-NYC Operations should set the pace, not oky doky OHIO

I have been working at Schindler Elevator Corporation full-time for more than 5 years

      Pros

Excellent work/life balance in my roles with the company (I do understand that this is not the case for all roles). Supportive management. Excellent President.

      Cons

Health insurance is high deductible (lots of out of pocket expenses before 80/20 coverage kicks in).

      Advice to Management

Offer better insurance plans and better 401k match (not competitive with other companies in the industry on 401k)

I have been working at Schindler Elevator Corporation full-time for less than a year

      Pros

Compensation, work-life balance, team work, dynamic industry. The role is a great introduction to the industry/sales and you will be compensated based on what you put in.

      Cons

Labor pool challenges. Customers are difficult and rarely reasonable. The union keeps the mechanic/technician labor force artificially low making completing jobs a balancing act. Your customers are mostly property management types with little to no mechanical know how, so there is some finesse and patience required there

      Advice to Management

Not a long enough tenure to give management advice. So far so good.
