    Doesn't Recommend
    Neutral Outlook
    No opinion of CEO

I worked at Schlumberger full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You will have a leadership role very quickly. You will learn a lot while working in the field, and you will eventually be moved to an office position as that is what the training is for.

    Cons

No work life balance. You will be tired, you will be hungry, you will miss your family. The lifestyle here is not for the feint of heart.

    Pros

Great field experience. I had an amazing crew to learn from meaning the operators and engineers.

    Cons

Horrible management, no work life balance. Expect to work anywhere from 30-72 hours straight.

    Positive Outlook
    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Schlumberger full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Field Engineers play a critical role in operations Many opportunities for growth and development Challenging environment Decent compensation (depending on particular role and location) Large international corporation with complex and developed operations Mekka for wireline (I was a wireline Field Engineer)

    Cons

Lack of work-life balance (depends on location, but in many places) Extreme workloads Overcomplicated and impractical workflows (as of 2015) People are not valued

    Advice to Management

Be more real and less cynical Show recognition for the enormous effort of your employees beyond paycheck and training Prioritize safety and wellness of your people Eradicate hazardous parts of the workflow (fatigue driving and work, insufficient planning resolved via crew heroism) Treat people well to retain top talent

I worked at Schlumberger full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great benefits packages, always new chances and challenges, they pull the best of you out, great starter company

    Cons

Relations and friendship decides promotions and positions, huge gap on salary (not so competitive after year 5-10) once in middle management positions, many capable oil field hands available to hire gives the company the opportunity to just let people go and get another one from the list...
