    Pros

The company seems to care about their employees. The work is challenging and rewarding. The management is approachable. They provide some pretty good training and the company always wants to keep you learning and encourages self-development.

    Cons

The industry is suffering as a whole and the number of layoffs that have happened in the past few years have brought the morale of the employees down.

    Pros

Working with people from all over the world. Exposure to complex problems.

    Cons

    Work/Life balance is virtually unreachable.

    Advice to Management

Allow employees work/life balance for their own sanity.

I have been working at Schlumberger full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great training program, friendly work environment, supportive of work-life balance (when possible), good vacation time

    Cons

Mobility within segments is very difficult, training program is very long and you may be trapped for more than 3 years before you can change roles, susceptible to downturn layoffs.

    Advice to Management

Let people have some flexibility within the company. There's no point in working for a massive company if you don't have career options within the company.

I worked at Schlumberger full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - Although a very, very large company, Schlumberger does many things better than others.
    - They pay well, are on the leading edge of technology in most areas and have a better vision than most of the industries in which they operate.
    - Corporate culture with respect to following the law in all areas is very strong.
    - One of the last typically to begin letting employees go during industry downturns.
    - Due to its size, many opportunities to move around and expand your experience base.

    Cons

    - You will certainly feel like you are just a number, which is rather inevitable in a company this size.
    - Recently seem to rely far too much on contracting employees and "diversity". Many hard working employees let go simply for the sake of this.
    - HR not nearly as responsive as in previous years. Far too much control over individual departments, hiring, etc.

    Advice to Management

    - Get back to letting management having more control over their respective divisions/departments. Software and analytics will not give you the best employees and results.
    - You have seemed to lost your way. Not nearly the same company you were 20 years ago. Seems that size has finally consumed the small/medium sized feeling previously felt, even though very large.
