    I worked at Schlumberger full-time

    Pros

    Plenty of OT
Techs can get rated as engineers if they can perform

    Cons

Low pay, large percentage of H1B visas
"You want more money, work more OT"
Little to no actual engineers in charge. Technicians moved to management making poor decisions.

I have been working at Schlumberger full-time

    Pros

Better training than most competitors. Decent benefits in insurance and stocks. Large company and overlapping business lines allow for broad experience.

    Cons

Total compensation packages below competitors. Poor work life balance. Extreme bureaucratic processes. Poor support structure. Employees are viewed as numbers and expenses.

    Advice to Management

If employees are promised things then these promises should be kept. If an employee brings skills and experience then that needs to be acknowledged. Employees are more than just interchangeable names on an organization chart.

I worked at Schlumberger full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Out of the box type projects, nice locations, plenty of technical resources that allow for mental growth. Working here is a great spring board for anyone's career.

    Cons

Where do i begin? Terrible management, too many upper managers who know nothing about getting the task complete. Band wagon style management system allows people who know nothing about a tool to jump in on the completion phase, say they had a role, and use this as a stepping stone to boost their careers. Mean while the technician, drafters and lead engineer who created the design get shafted, stiffed out of bonuses and "let go" when the economy slows.

    Advice to Management

Use more common sense and less ego. Respect the experienced engineers, drafters, and technicians who have done the job and do it correctly. Try promoting the people who have the knowledge base, and not the persons with 3 different degrees who uses a hammer to screw a nail.
