    I worked at Schlumberger

    Pros

Travel, bonus pay, fast promotions, meritocracy, lots of opportunity to learn and take on interesting projects.

    Cons

Lots of travel, hard to settle down or get into a good routine. Clients can be hit or miss

    Advice to Management

SLB is like a tanker ship that takes a while to make big changes but has adapted to the changing oil and gas landscape very well. Keep it up

I worked at Schlumberger full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Field Engineers play a critical role in operations Many opportunities for growth and development Challenging environment Decent compensation (depending on particular role and location) Large international corporation with complex and developed operations Mekka for wireline (I was a wireline Field Engineer)

    Cons

Lack of work-life balance (depends on location, but in many places) Extreme workloads Overcomplicated and impractical workflows (as of 2015) People are not valued

    Advice to Management

Be more real and less cynical Show recognition for the enormous effort of your employees beyond paycheck and training Prioritize safety and wellness of your people Eradicate hazardous parts of the workflow (fatigue driving and work, insufficient planning resolved via crew heroism) Treat people well to retain top talent

I worked at Schlumberger full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    - Good experience, great training, challenging work, good money - You get to work with brilliant people from all over the world - Good career options - you can progress into many different job functions by internal promotion without needing to go back to school - Remote location + rotation + travel allowance = good opportunity for travel

    Cons

    - Poor work/life balance - Live in remote locations, little to no say where you will get sent - Often work long hours without sleep - Company values are actually "profit, profit, profit", not "people, technology, profit"

I have been working at Schlumberger full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Been with the company for almost 10yrs. Get to meet many great people in different locations. Decent compensation, stronger job security than smaller companies in downturns. Overall good experience.

    Cons

Lots of time away from family. No schedule. Extreme amount of paperwork and big brother monitoring.

    Advice to Management

Keep new employees on a training period regarding HSE, driving and certifications. After say 3-5 yrs let some of the leash out to people who have a good record and not had any incidents.

    Pros

Good environment, have a great training plan and this is the bigest service company. Well pay

    Cons

There are many things to talk about the downside of SLB: - HR does not treat employees well, take extremely long time to answer the questions. - Management was not really good, they treat employees as a tool and care about the profit only. - Sometimes, you need to lie to client just to protect your boss.

    Advice to Management

    - Need to change the way to manage ppl, respect employees. - work-life balance need to be consider.
