Temp worker through Elwood and they don't care about you or communicate well.If the Schlumberger workers dont like you they will get rid of you quickly. This is a bad company to work for they dont care about you and work you like a SLAVE.

I worked at Schlumberger full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Unlimited overtime potential, before the bottom dropped out in the oil/gas industry. Great benefits.

    Cons

24/7 on call. Told to drive trucks in the field without logging into the truck. (Save drive hours & is illegal). Working in -40 to 105 outside tempatures. Mgmt doesn't care, "if you don't like it, quit" attitude by managers. Trucks not maintained, no mechanics to fix anything. Overworked and unapprecieated.

    Advice to Management

Show some appreciation to workers. 4 man crews would be better. Get trucks repaired. Manament training for managers. Employee relations by managers sucks. Weed out managers with bad attitudes.

The Benifits, pay, and promotability make this a great place to work. Management and coworkers are like family. You have an awesome ability to build skills and continue to learn.

    Cons

Unpredictable oil economy makes it hard to know if your future is stable in this company. Ours are very unpredictable. Knowing whether you're coming or going can be stressful.

Life outside of work very limited. Basic disregard for preferences of where you are stationed to work dispite company's inquiry as to your list of desired locations. Assignments, location, concentration and hours are rapidly changed without condsideration of employees.
Oil industry in a downward trend which impacts on the company's opportunities and "perks."

I have been working at Schlumberger full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Amazing opportunity for chemical and geological engineers. You will often see some truly creative ways of doing what most would deem impossible. Because of the nature of our industry, a job gone wrong is not necessarily your fault, and the company knows that.

    Cons

Management has recently centralized to Houston, and is out of touch with many issues that you will face outside of Texas. As a field engineer (all entry level engineers), you function more as a secretary, rather than an engineer. Unpleasant to terrible working conditions.
