I worked at Schneider full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Culture, high performance, outstanding co-workers, strong executive and senior leadership. Truly positioned to be resilient through all economic and industry circumstances. Working on getting those who do the work to figure out how to eliminate useless work.

    Cons

Sometimes one has to initiate communication - but if you do, leaders listen. I don't see a lot of cons.

    Advice to Management

Have as many conversations with people as you can. Understand that communication is more than just sharing information - understanding and participating in the organizational conversation is what engages people.

I worked at Schneider full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-Excellent company culture with many experienced and friendly employees.
-Schneider offers a flexible work schedule and work from home opportunities if needed.
-Schneider provides the opportunity to work and gain experience in multiple departments of the Logistics field.

    Cons

    - Company favors the corporate location in Green Bay above all other locations. This applies to your year end bonus as well.
    - External departments favor accounts with highest revenue first which often results in power struggles and lack of support.
    - Senior leadership tends to lean on mid level managers to take responsibility for unavoidable issues to avoid losing face with the customers.

    Advice to Management

Senior leadership needs to offer better support to mid level management

I have been working at Schneider full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Decent pay, 401K match, good amount of vacation and most co-workers are easy to get along with.

    Cons

Does not value education and it is difficult to move up. This is the perfect place to work if you want to make a lot of money without going to college. They do promote a lot from with in but it is a lot more about who you know than who is the best for the job. They claim that there isnt really hierarchy, "you should think of it as a jungle gym instead of a ladder". Typical large company that talk about its "values" all the time but doesn't follow them. I have seen driver reviews on here about their DBLs and dispatch. They are absolutely right, I was forced into the position with no ops experience. I had 4 days of training, which consisted of me sitting there watching someone answer the phone. Then, on my 5th day I was given 40 drivers. I consistently said I wasn't comfortable, but no one seemed to care. Even though I now know what I am doing, 40 drivers is way too much for one person. And a lot of people in the office absolutely treat the drivers like crap. I would love to quit but I can't affor to.

    Advice to Management

Do something about the internal hiring process. The more leaders I have, the more I realize it needs to change. There is way too much incompetence in leadership and the only thing they seem to have is the background of bouncing around to different parts of the company.

I worked at Schneider full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Easily some of the most technically gifted people you'll ever work with. The opportunity to work with a wide variety of software products.

    Cons

Self-induced hysteria by Directors and VPs. Horrible work/life balance. Unattainable goals and deadlines, if you're not 100% you're a failure. Company values are slogans, what you'll really see is racism and sexism.

    Advice to Management

Allow your people to do their jobs. Provide some transparency into the decisions and company financial outlook. Stop the steady exodus of quality people.

I have been working at Schneider full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company culture is positive and energetic. Management is helpful and effective. The training program is better than any company I have ever worked for. Even with little previous transportation experience, you are able to hit the ground running after one month of training.

    Cons

You have to be an expert at dealing with cold calls and rejection the majority of the time.

    Advice to Management

The best managers focus on providing transportation solutions and listening to their teams.

I have been working at Schneider as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Schneider is a well known company, great to have that name recognition as well as the candidate flow that it creates, very little sourcing needed.

    Cons

Due to volume very difficult to create a relationship with any applicant or hiring manager. Just not the style of recruiting I prefer to do.
