I have been working at Schnuck Markets part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Easy work environment and nice customers.

    Cons

Low low low pay. I have been working here for two years and I love the store and most of my coworkers. I even love my current position of courtesy desk. But I get paid the same as most baggers. I even do cash office in the mornings. That is too much responsibility for that pay.

    Advice to Management

    Pay workers what they deserve.

I worked at Schnuck Markets part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Friendly co-workers
    Flexible School Schedules
    Some Possible Advancement

    Cons

    Below Average Pay
    Lazy Management
Hardly any communication between branches throughout store

    Advice to Management

Show some respect for your lower level employees. They are constantly ignored by management and are expected to do more than they are going to be earning. Also, it would be easier for customers and employees alike if the company does not continue its path towards eliminating the bagging position. Having the cashiers scan and bag all of the items on their own just slows down productivity up front, especially during rushes.

I worked at Schnuck Markets part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The people I worked with were great and I loved my customers.

    Cons

Owners are greedy and treat the store employees horribly through a pathetic benefits package and some of the worst wages anywhere.

    Advice to Management

Management does what it can with what it has but the owners' lack of decency for the working class has left managers with a weak inflow of talent.

I have been working at Schnuck Markets part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

-Store-brand products are high enough quality for the relevant 10% discount to be useful
-Work is not very stressful or exhausting
    -Management have reasonable performance expectations
-Benefits are decent, though many are hard to achieve due to increasing scarcity of full-time positions
-One or two paid 15-minute breaks per shift

    Cons

-Pay scale is low, especially for union work, and has consistently fallen behind inflation for decades
-Union's contract negotiation is weak; mostly focused on at maintaining senior employee benefits, even if no one else will get those benefits in the future
-Store can be amazingly cheap when it comes to replacing/maintaining equipment, including dispensers, shopping carts, mobility carts, and lifts for ceiling maintenance
-So long as a division's collective goal is met, management ignore concerns that individuals are pushing work off on others
    -Chronic under-staffing, except on holidays
-Holiday pay is extremely limit: only $1/hour extra less than five days a year

    Advice to Management

-Make sure same-station employees have equal workloads (unless they agree to do otherwise)
    -Improve equipment conditions
    -Improve HVAC systems
