I worked at Schonfeld Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

They used to give their traders a lot of ability to make good money, trusting them to find opportunities and take a nice amount of risk.

    Cons

They have chosen to put over 95% of their resources towards quant based systems.

    Advice to Management

Loyalty to your traders should have been high on your list of priorities since it was traders that built your firm.

    Pros

Gives a fair shot and chance and time to prove yourself.

    Cons

Payout structure forces one to take more risk. But watch out from going in a hole. Buying power gets cut and tough time to come back. Also a percentage of monthly gains goes to pay for the hole your in.

    Pros

relaxed working environment, nice coworkers, good life work balance. company used to have lunch allowance, bu I don't know now.

    Cons

bad management, lower salary standards compared with others, company is downsizing and have little growth opportunities. It's more like family and friends business in management level.

    Advice to Management

Not much, because they don't want to achieve much either. They probably look forward to retiring any way and couldn't care less.

    Pros

day-trade more a lot of capital. if successful, can be raised in capital 2-3 fold in a year.

    Cons

if not out-performing peer group, hard to get capital raises. only get to take home 20% gross revenues/month. another 9% deferred over the next 2 years.

    Advice to Management

require much more training. can't expect traders just to "learn" it on their own. need more guided training.

    Pros

It was a fun internship where I was able to learn a lot about the stock market. I really liked it.

    Cons

They don't help you much as you tend to be off on your own plenty. It was still a great internship just wish there was more help.

    Advice to Management

Have a mentor with the interns so they can learn more and when they have questions there is a specific person to answer that for them

    Pros

Schonfeld is a good place for experienced traders looking for higher payouts and having a strong track record (i.e. profitable). The place is extremely flexible. Schonfeld is one of the oldest proprietary trading firm.

    Cons

The firm provides a very minimal base salary for new traders. The work environment is unprofessional.

    Advice to Management

The firm should provide higher compensation structure for its employees and allowing more learning opportunities.
