      Pros

Warehouse manager was great and pay was ok.

      Cons

      Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Schutt Sports full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Interesting industry. Fun to watch for the products on the field that came from our plant. Lots of cool R&D onsite.

      Cons

*Used to be a good place to work when the original owners were in charge. Once they sold (recapitalized) the business to the first private equity firm, things went downhill - resulting in a lawsuit, (a patent-infringement suit that the patent attorney CEO couldn't fend off...) followed by bankruptcy & sale to a second larger PE firm. Unfortunately the new PE firm left the same upper management in place, so some of the...

      Advice to Management

*Scheduling shouldn't be able to over-schedule. You can't run a plant at 95-100% capacity every day and then wonder why there isn't room to squeeze in a few more orders. Level-loading the schedule spreads out the production needs, instead slamming everyone at month-end and then sending them home for lack of work and to avoid paying overtime. *You don't see anyone in management working Saturdays and Sundays month after...

I worked at Schutt Sports for less than a year

      Pros

      - Autonomy of work - Remote work - Good product - Good leadership at regional level - Young, driven, hard-working field personnel - Working with several school administrators, coaches, and parents who care about product - Presenting and mentoring young men and women in sports. - Good office team always willing to help out

      Cons

      - VP is a napoleonic manager not leader, manager! - CEO commutes from New York to Illinois! Pays to be top BO$$. - CEO seems to be looking for exit strategy for himself. - CEO is lawyer by profession and seems to care but lacks conviction. - VP is a my way or highway kind of guy with little to no experience outside of a cubicle running the numbers. Will express deep value for team with no true sentiment. - Pay is...

      Advice to Management

"It doesn't make sense to hire smart people and then tell them what to do, hire smart people to tell us what to do." Hire people to fulfill your weaknesses, a great self-awareness and smarts can help contribute to substantial growth. Rome was not built in a day! Communicate thoroughly, coach with passion, set forth and establish clear performance metrics and then make employees accountable for delivery, do not...

I have been working at Schutt Sports

      Pros

Company culture. Overall the brand is great and most people recognize, but only for football, which is not bad considering they are all over NFL and NCAA.

      Cons

The overall feel of the company is rather bland, and they have not done much to reinvigorate it since its founding.

      Advice to Management

Make sure you understand that this is a very conservative brand, and company by design. In order to make change happen, you must first understand culture.
