    I worked at Schwan's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Our sales team and warehouse employees.

    Cons

Everything else. Work life balance is horrendous. Employees are told they would recieve holiday pay but have to work an extra Saturday to make up for the holiday. ??????? Zone managers are worthless in Texas.

    Advice to Management

Bail faster. Home service is going down.

I have been working at Schwan's (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The Customers are great along with the products. It is an established brand in the market but they have turned to many customers away with delivery fees and turnover

    Cons

The management does nothing but lie about everything. They "bait and switch" you to get you to take the jobs of others who were smart enough to quit.

The hours are also terrible along with dealing with the outdoor elements.

    Advice to Management

Grow up. This isn't the Schwan's that you worked at before when working 12 hours a day was expected. We also don't make half the money you once did either.

    Advice to Management

    I worked at Schwan's full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good money and work daily without much supervision.

    Cons

Hours are awful and advancement opportunities are dismal.
You are micro managed now rather than being able to run your route the way you see fit, you have to follow a manifest that ensures you work 12-14 hours a day.
They took away a majority of the incentives that drove you to sell more, no more q points, no chairman's club, no more super week.
Now to save them money you are a delivery man, not a salesman.

    Advice to Management

Fire the manager in London KY

    I worked at Schwan's full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Its a job, the company is very forgiving of mistakes.

    Cons

Commission Based, you will rarely if ever make full tier commission (15%).

You will work 12+ hours a day. I even have a DOT violation on my record, IN TRAINING.

    Advice to Management

Cut hours, increase pay. If you cannot cut hours, then give overtime incentives. Literally the worst job I have ever held in my entire life! I should not work 70 hours a week, and wonder to myself "Do I make enough to support my family?"

"A Place People like to work for.", sure, if you worked 40 hours a week, and your pay was not dependent on customers, and their freezer space, or vacations that they can take, ect. Its a guessing game every time you walk up to a door "Am I going to get sales?"

    I worked at Schwan's full-time

    Pros

Products from Home Service are good

    Cons

    Terrible working environment
    No flexibility
Across all parts of the business salaried are expected to do a minimum of 50 hours a week. Otherwise, you're not meeting expectations.
Typical work week at corporate is M-Sunday 70+ hours/week
PTO= Working while you're on vacation as "the business comes first."
They have a NO REHIRE RULE... If you quit on your own you're NEVER able to be employed with them again. PERIOD.
Guiding principles "How we Work and How we Lead" are great but only given lip service.

I have been working at Schwan's full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Not confined to office, meet new people

    Cons

Micro managing is at an all time high. Managers and especially people up the ladder have never done the job so they don't know how to do the job. Their solution to this problem is micro managing. Managers make personal decisions about their employees careers instead of professional ones.

    Advice to Management

Home service is bleeding money. Cut it out, the overhead is too high and Schwan's has lost literally millions of customers in the past decade without recovering. The delivery fee didn't work, the lay offs in 2016 didn't work, and route Reengineering is the biggest joke. Marvin Schwan's vision is no longer part of the company.

    I worked at Schwan's full-time

    Pros

Free food, friendly customers, free tips (courtesy of the company).

    Cons

Local management trying to run the routes that the RSR's know best, horrible hours, mandatory overtime (after you've already worked 60 hours), salaried or commissioned pay so they can use you for as many hours as they want, force you to cook your DOT books to keep you legal even though they make you go over the legal limits, no chance for advancement.

    Advice to Management

Seriously, there are too many things to mention. But, from a management point of view, when I worked there, I could get all the free food I wanted with no one questioning. If someone needed food, they could take it. If someone needed money, they could delete sales from an order so it appeared to be a tip. There was no proper inventory tracking system. Other drivers would take stock off my truck when I wasn't at work, and wouldn't change the stock in the computers. They were selling stuff they technically didn't have, and I was always short handed. Get control of your inventory, or go bankrupt...by your drivers.

    I worked at Schwan's full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You are your own boss, to a point. They have your location and cell number

    Cons

The worst human ethic company on earth. They want you, they need you. Once you think it's true, they treat you like dirt and I am being nice. Short term management with nothing to gain, but to treat you with abusive style conversations. Highest turnover I have ever seen in 25 years.

    Advice to Management

None, unless you fit the round peg in the square hole.
