    I worked at Schwan's part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Family-owned small business. Owners were awesome to work for. I enjoyed all my co-workers. Working there was pleasant.

    Cons

Early morning hours got the best of me. It's a warehouse, so sometimes it is cold or hot depending on the season.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing. You are an awesome employer. Thank you for hiring me and training me well.

    I worked at Schwan's full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Cost of living is super low in Marshall - I paid ~500/mo in rent with no roommates
    - CEO sets the tone consistently and the BU leaders are in lock step with him
    - Staff has a huge depth of knowledge and experience
    - IT and HR and other support functions are phenomenal, never had a hitch with them, which is way different from other companies I have been with
    - Employee discount and store are excellent perks, as is the newer profit share initiative
    - Huge on safety, which is probably due to a poor track record in that area, but makes for a fun and safe environment

    Cons

    - Staff is generally older, and somewhat low energy
    - Hard to get recognized for your work
    - Minimal promotions available and they often go to external applicants
    - Will cut benefits without warning, not sure if I can legally give specifics but this was a huge morale killer
    - Timesheets were expected to be practically down to the minute and there were too many demands in that respect

    Advice to Management

Consider promoting from within. Open up the possibility to moving staff around to adjacent roles or teams to keep the work fresh and combat tribalistic attitudes. Ease off the timesheet requirements.

    Pros

Great people and upper management has the company going in the right direction. Changing in many areas to stay relevant with the times.

    Cons

Not to many at this time. Resolving several of the past issues with employee hours, pay, and no leadership to assist.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work

    Pros

People willing to help each other; open door to management; opportunities for stretch assignments. Good benefits.

    Cons

There's been a lot of change in the last three years. Change can be hard and has meant some difficult challenges.

I have been working at Schwan's full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    - always new challenges, does not get boring
    - great team of people
    - culture, the thing I liked when I started here is returning with a passion
    - hard work pays off. If you are willing to work hard and have a positive outlook, opportunities are there

    Cons

    - we are lean, so constantly needing to prioritize to staff the most critical efforts. Everyone at every company needs to do this, but we are at a point, where that can be a little too frequent
    - some of the field feels disconnected from the rest of the culture, but this is something that is being focused on. Changes being made are geared to improve the field personnel's work-life balance, but it does take time. Hopefully they can stick with us.

    Advice to Management

Don't give up on the culture change. It is working. The values are very strong, and people really want this company to be great!.

    I have been working at Schwan's full-time

    Pros

Good pay and benefits. One of a kind job. Great people to work with and for. New upper leadership bringing positive results and better hours and pay.

    Cons

There is a lot of details to see at every level. You must be on point, fully engaged and self motivated. There is to much to over see for multiple mistakes. We need a better benefits package.

    Advice to Management

Upper leadership needs to recognize the importance of salesmanship. We need to learn to develop top notch salesmen in order to sell a profitable amount of food in only nine hours per day.

Excellent pay! $40k a year starting with average sales, $60k with personal drive! I determine my salary. No Supervisor looking over my shoulder. Established client base. Talking with people and driving around all day! New acceptable hours: 10:00 am to 8:00 pm. Superior benefits! Health insurance, dental insurance, free yearly checkup on both. Vision package. 401k with profit sharing! 10 days of vacation a year! Paid holidays!

    Cons

Laziness will lower commissions. If having a "bad day"; attitude will affect how customers' purchase. Older fleet of trucks.

    Advice to Management

Communicate as much as you can with your staff. Explain new programs in detail and get buy in. Don't just expect compliance because you say so.
