I have been working at Schwartz Brothers Restaurants full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Large, family run company with much care for their employees. Great pay and incentives with room to grow in the company.

    Cons

Extremely high standards across all restaurants. There's no cutting corners in this work environment. Poor communication at times.

    Pros

The discounts that you receive at the restaurants are great, and they take very good care of their employees and families when they are out to dinner, happyhour, whatever.

    Cons

Hard to get a shift covered, especially on the weekends. The new servers have to take the worst shifts, scheduling works on a seniority-basis.

    Advice to Management

Great job as a whole, it was a happy experience and has opened many doors through the clientele that was met while serving.

I worked at Schwartz Brothers Restaurants (Less than a year)

    Pros

Manager and Co-workers were almost all great to work with. They knew what they were doing and gave helpful advice and constructive criticism and feedback.

    Cons

Occasionally really busy and stressful working environment because the customers expect a lot out of the restaurant and will be sassy and difficult.

    Advice to Management

For the most part, no real advice. Management could do a little better to train front of house staff with some of the physically demanding and coordination demanding work responsibilities. I would suggest more breaks but that is not realistic in the restaurant business.

I have been working at Schwartz Brothers Restaurants part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pretty much everyone who works here is great and super helpful. The managers care about their staff and take their scheduling needs into consideration (which was perfect for me since I started this job while still in school.)

    Cons

One manager seemed to play favorites with the hostesses. When someone who has been working there for 8 months is only being scheduled for 2 days a week (with 7 days of availability) and a new hire is working for 5 days a week, then there is a problem. But that problem, I am told, is going to be solved soon.

Make sure you can stand on your feet for extensive periods of time. There is not much time to take a rest and sit down.

    Advice to Management

Other than the scheduling thing, they all do a great job.

    Pros

The money is pretty consistent and the view is gorgeous. The food taste great and benefits are also pretty good. Your schedule is a set schedule so it never changes from week to week as well.

    Cons

If you want a day off you have to find someone to cover your shift and if you don't then you still have to work. Some veteran employees that work there have a lot of say in things yet are some of the laziest people who work there- not team players anymore... When a guest uses a credit card the charge to use it from the machines comes out of your paycheck- so sometimes it can be around $6-$12 a night that you get taken out... They higher new bussers that have never bussed before so at times it can be stressful when you're trying to do your job but can't cause your doing someone elses

    Advice to Management

You are one of the top 50 restaurants in the country. Hire people who have actually done the job that they are applying for. And when you hire people, do it off of personality and people who are team players. You can teach someone to get better and tweak things that they need to fix, but you can never teach someone how to be kind or helpful in the work environment.
