    Pros

The other employees are the only pro. The coworkers and drivers not the managers. Customers were also great. Good hours and the pay was decent.

    Cons

I got hired to be the store manager of a store they knew was closing one day before they closed it they called me and told me they were coming down for a visit within 5 mins of them arriving I was fired for no reason and the next day the store was closed for good. Horrible people

I worked at Schwebel Baking (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The people you will work with are all hard working individuals . Some of the best I have ever had the chance to work with . Decent pay, good benefits, excellent dental and eye insurance. Steady work with some overtime, which is always nice. They can't force you over 10 hours. Management was easy to work with. As long as you got the job done, you stayed in good favor. A good union shop.

    Cons

It's hot of course. It's a bakery . There are a number of 27 to 28 year employees who should be able to retire at 30 years and out. Schweble's no longer offers that. When this happens, your going to have the backbone of Schewbel's work force leave. That could pose a problems for the company, especially when the very qualified and experienced maintenance crew leaves. Those guys keep the whole thing running . Cons ? , well it's a low ceiling company .Not much room for advancement .

    Advice to Management

Be easy on those who are just hired in. There is a learning curve that new employees have to learn. Make sure that those who are being paid to do the training are doing their job. Sitting back and watching the trainee struggle isn't the correct way to go about things. Make sure that the trainee is being taught through hands on learning. Telling someone how to do it is not always teaching . Watch and make sure that the trainer and trainee are working together . You can't learn through osmosis .

I have been working at Schwebel Baking full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay is pretty decent and you can get overtime is you want it. Union job so yearly raises are guaranteed.

    Cons

Employees don't get weekends or holidays off. Employees are often required to work overtime and/or 6 days a week. Not allowed to have two days off in a row.

    Advice to Management

Put more care into employee safety and well-being. Put more care into running efficiently than into running quickly and maybe you'll have less waste.

I worked at Schwebel Baking part-time

    Pros

    Stable company
    Good people
Good management above thrift store level
Great IN store manager (not so much outside management)

    Cons

Due to never staffing beyond exactly whats needed, work days could be harsh
Management flip flopped over my 3 years there so much it caused massive issues
Poor management on thrift store level

    Advice to Management

Re-evaluate your management for thrift store employees. With all the flip flop and horrible outside managers we had to deal with way to much junk. Should have left decisions up to in store manager.

    Pros

    weekly pay and medical benefits

    Cons

extremely hot work conditions, lousy pay, 6 day work weeks, no set scheduled days off, no holidays off, you request to use a personal day or vacation day and they deny you 9 times out of 10, this place is inhumane to work for! They do not care about their employees at all and treat people like crap

    Advice to Management

Give a crap about the people who work for you and the product you send out. The quality is really going downhill and so is the employee moral.
