Most people are nice. I have my own office. I can work from home when the kids are sick.

Management is in their own world. They don't care nor do they want to care about the future of this company. Management only seems to care about themselves. And all they seem to do is point fingers and never accept responsibility - blame the other department is always the easy way out, and the CEO doesn't do anything about it. He has absolutely zero authority of his managers and no one ever seems to get anything done.

Pros

High pay at the top of the scale. 7 year progression with timed (6month & 1 year intervals) raises. No surprises. Topped out at $32 per hour, great benefits. Liberal vacation & sick time. Unlimited overtime while I was there, rarely mandatory. Those Germans really know how to treat people well.

Cons

Hot work. Good in winter, very bad in summer. When I was there pre- lay off witch hunts were common practice. Little Generals abounded and a few floor employees controlled them. You lived or died by your clock number as a seniority tool.

The people. Well, anyone who isn't top 5 rank.

Cons

Schwing used to be all about quality, not anymore. There is zero quality, and there are no hopes of it being fixed, as upper management cant get along and is disconnected from production.
