I have been working at ScienCell Research Laboratories full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

ScienCell offers really great benefits package. The pay is fair compared to similarly sized companies. The small size makes it easy to get lots of experience in many different lab tasks compared to larger companies where you can get stuck with the same job task over and over. Small company, where many hats sort of thing.

    Cons

They definitely have strict work hours. 8-5, 12-1 lunches and not many exceptions are made from this. People that are okay with this thrive and people who don't understand why it is important to stay until 5 struggle. It is a small company so the management sometimes doesn't know your position as best as you do but will have opinions. All and all they are pretty fair though.

    Advice to Management

Allow certain positions to alternate hours. Listen more to employee suggestions.

    Pros

Any pros are hard to find.

    Cons

Too many to list. I recommend you stay away. Turn -over is about 20-30 people (which is 100% as it is a small company of only 20+ people) per year.

I worked at ScienCell Research Laboratories full-time

    Pros

pay and benefits are OK, if you need a job but definitely had better
really hard to come up with pros for this place...had to write this sentence just to pass the 20 word minimum.
Also where I have space the positive reviews on HERE ARE ABSOLUTELY FAKE!!! I have watched about 30 people come and go in my time here (average people stay about 6-8 months) and NOT ONE left in positive spirits. Some of them even left at lunch time and never came back!

    Cons

They don't give me enough space to write the horror show that is ScienCell. I get that the job market is crappy right now so you have to take what you get but seriously if you don't ABSOLUTELY have to take this job keep looking. I saw the bad glass door reviews and thought...it can't be that bad....guess what it's worse. The managers have no clue what they are doing here and work expectations are extremely unrealistic. You will have hours of pointless meetings where you will be blamed for anything they feel like pinning on you that day, literally down to blaming you for something that occurred before you even worked at the company (seriously I am not joking). I could go on for days here...this place will make you think the worst of people and poison anyone who has a good attitude. AGAIN, SERIOUS WARNING don't work here unless you absolutely desperate.

I have been working at ScienCell Research Laboratories full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good location, well-structured company (R&D, Production, Quality Control, HR etc.), clean labs with state of the art instruments and equipment. Great benefit plan and good people with whom to work. They care about the employees.

    Cons

    Add adequate resources, hike wages.

    Advice to Management

The company needs strong management team to execute company polices such as attendance, lab safety and others. Employees frequently break company polices or make mistakes which causing company damages financially should be warned or disciplined. One of the recent negative review (April 3rd) is not true and exaggerated and should not be trusted.

I have been working at ScienCell Research Laboratories full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Safe, easy and friendly work environment, health insurance full coverage and paid vacation time, great starting wages, career growth available if motivated.

    Cons

Need better structure, training could be better, have company meeting more often to let employees informed on company growth.

    Advice to Management

One main reason i choose ScienCell was it's insurance benefits. i am willing to take the pay cut for the added benefits such as more vacation time.

    "Great Opportunity"

I have been working at ScienCell Research Laboratories full-time

    Pros

ScienCell is a relatively small company (a little over 20 employees), so there are many opportunities to gain exposure to, and experience in multiple parts of the company. Many employees are new graduates, so it's a good opportunity to get a foot in the door of the biotech industry, gain experience, and rise on the merits of your performance. The atmosphere among employees is cooperative rather than competitive, and there is always someone around to help out if you're stuck or busy.

The compensation is competitive, especially for a smaller company: annual raises based on performance, bonuses, medical insurance covered 100% by the company, an IRA retirement plan, and 2-3 weeks of vacation. Many of the complaints about low salary do not take all of the benefits into consideration, and tend to come from new graduates with unrealistic expectations.

Most employees are not expected to work on the weekends. Some of the cell culture positions do require a few hours' work on the weekend, but this is explicitly stated during the interview process, and those employees are encouraged to take that time off during the week so as not to work more than 40 hours.

If you show up and do your best, you will succeed and be rewarded.

    Cons

Many employees are new graduates who sometimes have unrealistic expectations, given it's their first job. Some literally don't understand why they can't show up late all the time, or do things the way they want to do them and not the way their superior wants them done.

Some of the positions are technically challenging, and require a specific skill set that is difficult to assess via interview.

    Advice to Management

Enforce company policies consistently and uniformly across the company to avoid resentment among employees. Some positions could benefit from hiring more experienced individuals who may be successful faster, and thus result in less turnover.

I worked at ScienCell Research Laboratories full-time

    Pros

    - Opportunity to learn about human primary cells and some laboratory techniques

    Cons

First of all I would like to mention that the 'positive reviews' are fake. I don't believe a single person actually has a good experience there. This is one of the worst working environment imaginable. From being constantly micromanaged, surveilled to no end, harassed, and blamed for things that never even happened in the first place, well, you can imagine... No? Oh then please let me elaborate! The owner of this company is a complete nut case. I happen to think he is plagued with mental issues as well as paranoid schizophrenia. In addition to this, the pay is terrible (a scientist gets paid what an associate with a bachelors should be getting), the treatment is even worst, and even the coworkers will turn against you to join his ranks of manipulation and negativity. Its quite funny really, if enough people are gathered together at the same place and same time, that is enough cause for warnings and threats. The management is extremely unprofessional. Expect to be harassed for everything you do. If you try to help advance the company, expect for your work and credit to be taken by one of his favored scientist and then do be scolded for not doing your work. I have seen so many employees leave this place in tears. I really hope someone will finally take him to court.. If you value your health, stay away form here like the plague.

    Advice to Management

    - Treat coworkers with genuine respect
    - Respect labor laws and government regulations such as hazardous waste regulations

    Pros

    - small company so you get close with your 10 other co-workers
    - location is nice, has lots of new restaurants around the premises
    - clean and well kept work environment

    Cons

    - Not much room for growth since the company is fairly small so you are stuck with the position you have (minus moving up "supervisor" role, but it's just a title, don't expect that much or if any higher pay).

    - The head of the company tends to micromanage most of his 10 employees and expects a lot from them. Most of the time the demands seem inappropriate or inconceivable (such as working long hours over the holidays, nights, and weekends). If you decline, your work environment and mood with him will suffer.

    - There seems to be a discrepancy in the BS and PhD's treatment by the head of the company. When there are problems made during production, the entry level employees are usually blamed regardless of everyone's contribution to the work.

    - There is a VERY HIGH TURNOVER for every position in this company and with good reason. Please be wary of the warnings that are posted here.

Also, it is a bit unfair that the company is posting positive reviews themselves on here. Notice how there is a large load of positive feedbacks in September and October. They all sound very similar and is in fact pointed out by several of the true reviews here that it is being done by the management.

    Advice to Management

ScienCell can be a great place to work at. But please set realistic goals as well as impove the work environment by clarifying the company's desired duties and commitments from each position and do no stray from them. Although many of these employees are newly graduated students, they still have their right to a good decent pay without any future fallacies that may be used against them.
