    I worked at Scotiabank full-time

    Pros

Good lifestyle and work is somewhat interesting. People are friendly and the location is excellent. Compensation is average and could be better

    Cons

culture is changing. A career at Scotia has gotten more difficult because of job cuts. Canada is now more in charge of the U.S. than ever and senior management is very conservative

I have been working at Scotiabank full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Scotiabank is a solid global bank with 190-year history and good reputation. Many people have worked for 30-40 years here. Low employee departure rate. The Work-life balance is better than at other comparable institutions.

    Cons

If you work well, your career may stall just because your leaders are happy having you in your role. In Canada, the bank pays less than competitors. In the U.S. - mid-market.

    Advice to Management

Promote the bank externally, with potential employees and MBA schools. Celebrate employees' achievements and service milestones. Introduce cash reward component with "Best of the Best" and similar awards.
