I have been working at Scottish Re Group full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits package above average. Flexible work environment and work/life balance. Good people for the most part.

    Cons

Terrible work environment with ethics concerns. People are not developed or treated consistently and fairly. No real avenue to voice concerns without retaliation. Several long term key staff members have recently left.

    Advice to Management

Replace CFO so more people don't leave.

    Pros

The benefits are very comprehensive, and the company match for the 401(k) plan is very competitive. Charlotte is a great place to live, with a winters that are not as severe as further north, but, at the same time, it is not Florida, either.

    Cons

There are limited opportunities for advancement, as the company hires experienced people rather than promoting from within. They along with Transamerica are the only games in town, limiting the leverage that people would otherwise have in trying to advance within the organization. Commute times can be long, if one chooses to live in Union County or in South Carolina.

    Advice to Management

Develop a rotational program to train people in other areas.
