I have been working at Scottrade Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Spent 10 years there doing guest service and pouring beer, then moved to security. There's a little room to move up. You work with good people for the most part. Everyone in all departments is pretty friendly, there's a lot of people who have been here a long time and everyone knows everyone. It's a pretty great part time job. Full time isn't as fun.

Benefits for full time people are great: PTO, sick leave, good and affordable medical/vision/dental insurance, season tickets, opportunities to buy tickets to concerts and events before they go on sale to the public. Get paid to see games and concerts.

Only benefits for part time employees is 401K. It is a union building, there are a few benefits with the union.

    Cons

Unless you're full time, the work isn't consistent through the year but it's busy from October to about April. Summers are rough, not many events.

Upper-upper management (GM/CEO) doesn't care about their people. They don't look at you, barely speak to "underlings". Have no real idea of what's going on, they just walk around and look important. They wouldn't know how to deal with an angry guest.

Pay isn't great but does pay better than minimum wage in most positions.

There's room to move up but if you're looking to be more than a manager they tend to hire from outside the company, which is sad. They lose a lot of good people because they don't allow them to move up to their full potential, so those people end up going to to other buildings and teams.

If you're full time you will be expected to put in some long hours during tournaments and events that last several days. It's not unusual to put in 80 hours in a week especially if you're salary.

    Advice to Management

Departments need to communicate to each other more.

    Pros

Excellent opportunities for advancement and growth both personally and professionally. Work life balance is good and improving. A good mixture of talent here.

    Cons

Upper management's visions aren't always consistent. It seems like change is not easily accepted. People are afraid to voice opinions when it should be encouraged

    Advice to Management

Don't be reluctant to change. Listen to those who are closer to the work and trust the people that are doing the work

    Pros

I enjoy the atmosphere, co-workers, and the events.

    Cons

I don't see many cons in this positon. The drive to the building, to and from is the con.

    Advice to Management

I know we are doing customer service. Some guest think they are above the rules and policies.
Those guest need a quit exit from the building. So the other guest have a enjoyable experience at our facility and events.

I worked at Scottrade Center part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Got paid to see Blues games and concerts. Free Uniforms. Good co workers. Good 2nd job. Most shifts consist of nights and or weekends, so you can still do your 9-5, if someone can watch your children.

    Cons

Unarmed security guards. With no radio. Lots of time standing...so, be prepared. Parking is tricky. Pay is low. Either more police or more guards. Sometimes you have to work the smoking exit/re-entry. Cold and smokey.

    Advice to Management

Make some jobs more full-time, then the turnover would stop and you can build your perfect team. Get more shows. No mandatory shows.
