I have been working at Scottrade (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great company, great people, great work life balance. You can tell this company was once a great place to work.

    Cons

so sad to see company is to be purchased by TD Ameritrade. It's a shame Riney couldn't figure out what else to do with it besides sell it to a competitor.. everyone's jobs are at risk so morale is low.

I have been working at Scottrade full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

None at this time. Everyone is in zombie mode working for a company that doesn't care.
Benefits still exist for a short period of time but they will be changing soon when the company is TD.

    Cons

Find something now before this company tosses you out for an newer model. They don't care about their employees you are just a butt in a seat right now soon to be set out to pasture.

    Advice to Management

TD should fire everyone from branch manager up and start fresh. The management teams all the way up to DVPs are liars and cheats and will step on anyone they can to make their six figure salaries. Very sad.

I have been working at Scottrade full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Pay is decent. There is a lot of autonomy in how you accomplish your work based on your branch. Small office feel.

    Cons

Systems are absolutely the worst I've ever experienced. Daily, I find a new system limitation. It's clear that management has been coasting for some time now. Poor vision, limited investment in technology.

    Advice to Management

Sell to TD before you sink this ship.

I have been working at Scottrade full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

I've been with Scottrade for almost 10 years & this is THE best place I have ever worked. Rodger is the greatest CEO! He is a wonderful, caring person, great business man, & all around nice guy. He is funny & enjoys interacting with everyone in his company. I am so grateful to have gotten a chance to have him as a Leader!

    Cons

At this time, the only downside that I have is that we will soon no longer exist. Since we are being acquired by TDA, Scottrade will cease to be a company.

    Advice to Management

Take a moment to watch other Leaders ways of dealing with their departments & co-workers. I am incredibly lucky to have the Supervisor that I do, but I do see other people that are not. It sometimes shocks me to see what a fabulous company I work for, but then see a few Leaders who do things totally different than our culture dictates. I would like to ask management to step out of their comfort zone from time to time & learn from others!

I have been working at Scottrade (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good benefit, not stressful. 401k match 50% up to 15%. Vacation days plus 6 sick days per year. good dental plans.

    Cons

Some management can make decisions for their own benefits. One team can have more mangers or VPs than associates. So many management not doing much.

    Advice to Management

    Need better management.
