I have been working at Scotts Miracle-Gro full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Helping customers, working independently in retail stores, freedom to build product displays, decent benefits, decent training, mileage re-imbursement

    Cons

Tons of products and brands to merchandise, over 110, very physical work, lots of climbing up and down ladders with heavy products, working with store managers can be a pain in the butt, need a lot of help and assistance from store employees to properly set up displays and get pallets down from top of shelves,

    Advice to Management

They need to retain good employees better and make it easier for employees to move up in the company and not treat us as 'churn and burn' employees

    I worked at Scotts Miracle-Gro full-time

    Pros

Its a great job for learning the ropes of vendor retail. If your lucky your SM will be hands on and ready to teach you the tricks of the trade.

    Cons

There is no real upward mobility, but upper management will sell that lie all day. The hours can and will be cut with no real warning. Some (not all) SM's can be very full of themselves.

    Advice to Management

You have passionate people who understand and love the job. Help them move up! The company invests too much in associates to just lose them.

    Pros

Lots of smart and energetic people to work with. CEO and President really care about the Associates.

    Cons

Some managers project their stress on their staff. Cussing is not frowned upon.

    Advice to Management

Give more Associates the benefit of doubt for advancement opportunities.

    Pros

You don't get bored doing this job. There is always something to do and it's usually different from day to day. Job has many rewards if you work hard.

    Cons

High stress during peak selling season. Less than detailed communication from upper management. No upward career movement without relocation.

    Advice to Management

A great level of transparency from upper management would be beneficial.
