I have been working at Scout RFP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

I have worked at Scout for about 8 months and couldn't be happier! I have had training, guidance and support from my team since day one. I have had more opportunity for growth here than any company I have worked for in the past. They give you a clear career path and are very transparent. The pay is great and the people are kind. Very grateful to work here!

    Cons

You must have a positive attitude and work hard play hard mentality. This is not for someone looking to collect a paycheck. Our founders care about us and expect you to treat this company as though it was your own. BE AN OWNER!!!!

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the great work!!

I have been working at Scout RFP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Having recently received round C funding, Scout is on the up and up. Its product is incredible, but what really sets Scout apart is its team. Everyone brings their best everyday which makes for a dynamic and energizing environment. Scout's focus on growth means that there is a unique opportunity for fast-tracked career advancement within the company. The founders and managers are dedicated to their employees' success...

    Cons

Change is constant. You need to be able to roll with the punches and pivot on a pin. Like all start-ups, this is a fast-paced environment which is not for everybody.

I worked at Scout RFP full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Plenty of snacks in case you're looking for round 2 of the Freshman 15.

    Cons

Total culture of fear. Everyone who made the place decent has left. Micromanagement on every level. Zero work life balance

    Advice to Management

Actually exercise some of the values you tout.

I worked at Scout RFP full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Product is fine and customers are largely happy.

    Cons

If you are a developer in Eastern Europe, you can ignore this review. However, if you are in a customer-facing role at Scout (sales and CSRs), you loathe who you work for. The CRO is a hammer to his nails who blasts first, asks questions later. Expect to be treated as a new rep, even if you come here with experience. Massive micro-management, impossible activity metrics so they always have a reason to drill into you,...

    Scout RFP Response

    August 21, 2019Cofounder & VP of Operations

Hi – thank you for posting feedback. It is a great idea for prospective employees to ask companies about the general reasons former employees are no longer with them. In 2018, Scout brought on a CRO with a very strong enterprise SaaS background (including multiple IPOs) whereas ...

I worked at Scout RFP full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Good base salary and decent perks

    Cons

During the interview process, they really sold Scout strongly, but sales was very difficult to be in while I was there. Micromanaged with everything you do, and the founders and some managers would constantly bully and talk down to employees. Quite a toxic environment to work in, and hitting quota was nearly impossible. You also get looked down upon if you leave a second before 5:00pm, and it was very difficult to take...

Hello – our AE team has consistently over-achieved quota over time. Pulling from the most recently closed quarter (fiscal Q2) our AE team quota attainment was more than 160% and our average sales cycle was 121 days which is appropriate for our average sales price. Scout’s sales ...

I worked at Scout RFP full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good benefits and pay was good.

    Cons

As soon as I told them I had a disability from an accident I was let go before a performance review. They didn't even care that I was injured. They did not treat me as a human being but as a business tool only. My old company would have never done that.

    Advice to Management

Be more humane and communicate better with your employees.

I have been working at Scout RFP full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Strong product – customers are extremely positive based on Gartner reviews Big success at company’s latest customer annual conference Growing quickly The people are great – around passionate individuals all day! Good VC groups backing the company

    Cons

Invest more time in team training & education - personal growth Perks could be better when compared to other Bay area companies

    Advice to Management

Need to round out the management team in a few roles More support on internal growth would be great Provide more direction on integration and when those will go live since it’s a focus for the company this year.

I have been working at Scout RFP full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

There have been a lot of great things about working at Scout. Benefits, salary, coffee machines, etc. But my favorite is actually building a tool that has changed the work lives of our customers. I hear stories about how we've made their personal lives better by making their work lives easier by building such a great tool. And that is the kind of impact I like making.

    Cons

One difficult aspect right now is the growth transition we are in. We do need to hire many more talented people to elevate our company higher and faster.

Lots of change and ambiguity; incredibly accelerated pace, so relentless communication and execution skills are a must - Execution above all else; you must be able to set and meet expectations; if you aren't up to par you will certainly be notified (this isn't so much of a con but a warning - there is zero tolerance on poor or even mediocre execution) - Career paths are not defined...

    Advice to Management

Keep listening and acting on the feedback given in the employee surveys. Empower teams to grow and give them the resources needed to scale. A lot of the employees have worked at different stage startups or big companies, so teaching us HOW to scale would be very valuable.
