Former Employee - Inventory and Pricing Department Manager in Knoxville, TN
    Approves of CEO

I worked at Scripps Networks Interactive full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

SNI was willing to invest in the long term growth and success of their employees. There was a real sense of camaraderie and family because most employees in Knoxville stayed with them for many years.

    Cons

SNI was bought out by Discovery in Q1 2018. Since then, there have been big lay-offs across almost all areas of the company. The most senior, experienced people often being the first to be cut. The SNI company culture went out the window as well.

I worked at Scripps Networks Interactive full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Smart leaders and great people to work with. The brands are amazing and fun to work on.

    Cons

Recently acquired by Discover. Massive layoffs and more to come. Culture is mixed with Discovery and Scripps teams still not intertwined. Low growth opportunities.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Scripps Networks Interactive full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

Great campus, great pay for the area, great (although declining) brands

    Cons

Since Discovery acquired the company there has been hundreds of "silent" layoffs for no reason other than deepening the pockets of the absent executive leadership. Their programming team wants to sensationalize and create drama where there is none, since they believe that "non-scripted programming needs conflict".

    No opinion of CEO

I have been working at Scripps Networks Interactive full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Great people, great life/work balance. Great atmosphere

    Cons

Since the takeover (I won’t call it a merger) atmosphere is destroyed. People with 20 plus years in being let go. Discovery Communications always keeps their own people when it comes down to a choice. Information needed to move forward is not shared. Disheartening.

I have been working at Scripps Networks Interactive full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

Easy commute, great area, work life balance,

    Cons

Slackers take advantage of work life balance and do little to nothing. If you are gay or a woman you have a greater chance at promotion. Discovery takeover has most employees spooked, so attitudes and morale are dropping.
