I have been working at Scytl full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Good working environment Real and powerful purpose: empower citizens Nice location and nice offices Talented team Cool events organized by the company Schedule flexibility

    Cons

Some mistakes in the past (related to the youth and the quick growth of the company) that are damaging the image of Scytl

I have been working at Scytl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Interesting projects, great coworkers and an international working environment. Office in Barcelona city, fun company events and good company benefits. Having a great team and amazing colleagues make the work day past really fast.

    Cons

The past 2 years at Scytl were very challenging with lots of changes, hectic projects and quite stressful periods. The management team didnt keep their promises, which was a dissapointment. 2017 has started a lot better and it seems the company is finally getting more stable.

    Advice to Management

Listen more to the employees. The communication and the company culture has to improve.

I worked at Scytl full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Once it had the best engineers in BCN. Some of them are still there. The possibility of doing online elections (to improve democracy and so...) is cool.

    Cons

Sales will sell whatever the feel at whatever price, totally unrelated to what engineering is (capable of) doing. Worst management ever. Constant change of internal organization. They don't pay extra hours (and there were maaaany).

    Advice to Management

Pay extra hours. Pay more. Keep people happy. They won't flee. And sell reasonable projects.

I worked at Scytl full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

International business, cool products, nice offices in Barcelona, young and talented staff. Worldwide leader in his industry and has the potential to become a real game-changer in the election space.

    Cons

Need to change. The CEO promised it, but still needs to achieve it. The company used to be fun and the pressure to growth killed that. The company is in the middle of a transformation which should bring the company back to where it was 4 years ago, with a startup mentality and focused on fewer products to really add value to customers.

    Advice to Management

Go back to roots. Online Voting is the base and the future of this company.

I worked at Scytl full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Good location. Nothing else. Not anymore...

    Cons

Terrible management. Not good pay (you can find other options much better in Barcelona) No training They will fire you as soon as they close the project you are working for No good projects in the pipeline No mision, no vision and no values in the website, which means they don´t care about strategy

    Advice to Management

Come back to the University and try to learn how to manage a Company in the XXI

I have been working at Scytl full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

-There are still some young and talented workers who still work in the company -International working environment and international projects -The office is located in one of the best areas in Barcelona

    Cons

-Awfully managed: Major reorganizations nearly twice a year. This is the most important point and the main cause of the other cons -Bleeding out: Losing its talent every week -Shrinking: The company peaked in 2014 and has been shrinking slowly shrinking since then

    Advice to Management

Change the CEO. Be patient and try to grow step by step.

I worked at Scytl for more than a year

    Pros

Work on international critical projects with real impact. Top (or use to be) technology on online voting. If you fancy developing security critical and cryptography enabled software, Sctyl may be your place. Compared, to other places I have worked in Scytl methodologies are not bad. There has been lots of people leaving the company recently, so you might have unexpected career opportunities there.

    Cons

New strategic plans and changes of direction every now and then. Tones of hours of my work were thrown to the trash do to bad management. Total lack of direction or focus. You never know if the project/product you are working in will have a continuity in the next few months. In general people at Scytl is unhappy with management and are planning to leave. In most department there is a clear management overhead, with lots...

I worked at Scytl full-time for more than a year

    Pros

    * Interesting business. * Usually, developers leaving Scytl are well valued by other companies. * Free coffee, fruit, and language lessons. * Optional ticket-restaurant, ticket-transport, or health insurance, deducted from the salary. * Some, but not all, employees have a small training budget of about 300 EUR per year. * Working with wonderful, highly qualified people… if they still survive there.

    Cons

    * Management is a pure nightmare. No medium- and long-term strategy and objectives. Constantly changing business plan, wasting money and resources. * Major company decisions taken arbitrarily. * Dealing with MANY more projects than the actual capacity of the company allows. Result = failed projects, big balls of mud in the code repos, loss of: time, resources, employee happiness, and customer reputation. * Absolute...

    Advice to Management

There is no hope to save the company from misery with the current CEO and management team. In the (very) unlikely case that they are willing to listen to some advice: * Stop taking myopic short-term decisions. Learn what a long-term strategy is. And most importantly, * Learn how to care about people. A good company is not only about making money. It is also about how to properly care for its employees, not treating...

I have been working at Scytl full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The mission of innovating democracy is what attracted me in the first place and here I am after 10 years. The market, technology and the people are amazing, Lots of talented individuals especially in engineering :)

    Cons

Be prepared for a lot of work in a demanding environment. The election space also does not allow for mistakes and sometimes the deadlines are too tight which means pressure on engineering

    Advice to Management

Try to be more selective on which projects you take on. Sometimes there are projects that are too high risk and no worth pursuing. The company needs more focus
