    Pros

change the world by improving democracy! actually no you won't

    Cons

There is no product and there is no market. You can't sell the same election software to different countries because voting is different everywhere. Scytl burned $100m of VC money to find this out. It will close down soon so don't work here

    Advice to Management

if you are going to waste investors money then at least be nice to your employees while you do it!!

I have been working at Scytl full-time

    Pros

If you are in sales you will work with the best. This company has sold everything to anyone in a difficult environment as their solutions are highly disruptive and subjected to the political will of entire governments. If you are in the right region you have better chances for success. The General Manager (they have one per region) runs sales. He is very demanding (you better know your stuff after your first 6 months...

    Cons

It's just a complex business. And the political wind of governments purchasing election technology can blow in favour or against you anytime regardless of how well you perform. It is difficult for the sales team to keep the pace with the changes of the company's strategy. The commission structures don't reflect market behavior. Customers buy annually and multi annually while commissions are based on 12 months (another...

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good job. But faster turn around, better commission structure.

I worked at Scytl full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Once it had the best engineers in BCN. Some of them are still there. The possibility of doing online elections (to improve democracy and so...) is cool.

    Cons

Sales will sell whatever the feel at whatever price, totally unrelated to what engineering is (capable of) doing. Worst management ever. Constant change of internal organization. They don't pay extra hours (and there were maaaany).

    Advice to Management

Pay extra hours. Pay more. Keep people happy. They won't flee. And sell reasonable projects.

    Pros

International business, cool products, nice offices in Barcelona, young and talented staff. Worldwide leader in his industry and has the potential to become a real game-changer in the election space.

    Cons

Need to change. The CEO promised it, but still needs to achieve it. The company used to be fun and the pressure to growth killed that. The company is in the middle of a transformation which should bring the company back to where it was 4 years ago, with a startup mentality and focused on fewer products to really add value to customers.

    Advice to Management

Go back to roots. Online Voting is the base and the future of this company.

I have been working at Scytl full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

The mission of innovating democracy is what attracted me in the first place and here I am after 10 years. The market, technology and the people are amazing, Lots of talented individuals especially in engineering :)

    Cons

Be prepared for a lot of work in a demanding environment. The election space also does not allow for mistakes and sometimes the deadlines are too tight which means pressure on engineering

    Advice to Management

Try to be more selective on which projects you take on. Sometimes there are projects that are too high risk and no worth pursuing. The company needs more focus

I worked at Scytl full-time for more than 8 years

    Pros

International business that allows growing as a professional and growing your personal network. Challenging customer deliveries where you see the real impact of your job when a whole country uses on the same day the software you have developed. Opportunity to have a career in the company, and to move internationally among the different office locations.

    Cons

You have to be ready to work hard. Very hard. Delivering election related projects delays or failure are not an option. Everything has to work on the target day, flawlessly. No second opportunity or last minute launch delay option. Contract delivery some times awarded with short time from award to election date, increasing the pressure on the delivery team.

    Advice to Management

Try to improve the work/life balance of employees after a peak delivery.
