I have been working at Sea Gull Lighting full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Large company, long history in the lighting industry, competitive compensation. Parent company has a positive financial outlook. People are hard working and conscientious.

    Cons

Transitioning from family owned to corporate culture. A lot of consolidation and downsizing. Jobs are being moved to corporate offices in the chicago area. Consolidations are always difficult, but sometimes necessary.

    Advice to Management

Management should make sure to always value the contribution of all employees. During times of downsizing, sometimes valuable employees are terminated for various, sometimes seemingly random, reasons.

    Pros

    Ability to set own schedule.

    Cons

Micro-managing regional managers, NO product, NO support staff, Out of touch Senior Management. Started out very well, and then went downhill fast after acquired by Generation Brands. Generation Brands went through bankruptcy, and was never the same after. Customers lost confidence, company couldn't ship product because they didn't have any, and it took forever to get even the most simple requests done by the corporate office.

    Advice to Management

Sell the company, or put it out of it's misery!
