    Pros

Great people, passionate about animals, interesting place to work, committed to keeping everybody safe...employees, guests and animals.

    Cons

Tough times financially for the company so resources were stretched. Fortunately they are rebounding so this should get better.

I worked at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

If you love animals, this is a great place to work. Good coworkers, good location.

    Cons

Pay is not comparable to other theme parks, they operate on as few employees as possible to get by which makes for a stressful environment when you have callouts.

I have been working at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment full-time for less than a year

    Pros

    - Global brand that is known for its' conservation and rescue efforts - Proud to be part of all the good that we do for animals and conservation - Fun work environment - Park President is a great leader - Good benefits for this type of job; better than hospitality - Lots of free tickets!!!!

    Cons

    - compensation could be higher, but I think they are working on this - managers and supervisors could be more helpful - wish I'd had more training before I started my job; wasn't sure what to do on day 1. - it's hot in the summer

    Advice to Management

Have better training for new employees, especially one on one training with supervisor. Need to know what is expected of us.

I have been working at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment full-time for more than 10 years

    Pros

    Seeing the animals, animal conservation

    Cons

The employee experience. The executive leadership needs an overhaul! Seaworld is failing because the same tired uneducated people that ran the departments 20 years ago are still there- in finance, marketing, HR - these people have no clue how run a profitable business in 2020. Its all antiquated processes and technology. Seaworld looks haggard. No one is pumping money into it’s appearance or the quality of employees. Back in the Anheuser-Busch days they knew that if you take care of your employees, they deliver an amazing product. Disney and Universal get that. Seaworld is treating it’s employees inferior to the animals and the results show. The benefits have gotten to be horrific. Way below industry standard. They can’t keep a CEO to save their life!

    Advice to Management

Stop taking away from the very few employees you have left. Human Capital should be part of your strategy. Sadly, you have no strategy. That’s why you failed after Blackfish and while you will continue to fail until you are bought out or go under! Ssheesh. This is BUSINESS 101!!

I worked at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

The parks are fun, people work hard and proud of the work the company does for animal rescue and to create fun and exciting rides.

    Cons

At the corporate office they do not respect you. The Chief Strategic officer acts like a child, cursing people out frequently and is horrible to work with. He likely gets his behavior from the chairmen of the board who does the same.

    Advice to Management

Companies that value their employees get more productivity than companies that repeatedly beat down their staff. It is all about earnings and cost cutting because you want to get rich on your stock but you are doing it at a cost of morals and values...although we know you don't care. Try to do the right thing and build a genuine culture of respect.

    Pros

The animals, the front line people who pour their hearts into this company. The guests who are inspired by how amazing the animals are.

    Cons

Scott R, chairman of the board, micro manages EVERYTHING. He’s akin to a spoiled 3 year old pitching a fit if he doesn’t like something.

    Advice to Management

Scott & Gus why do you think several park GM’s, VP’s and salaried leaders are jumping off like rats off a sinking ship... times up... it’s because of you. Let the people who know this business run this business. Do you really think we had a good year in 2018 because of anything you did... back off and let the parks do their thing.

I worked at SeaWorld Parks & Entertainment full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

Access to SeaWorld Parks and Universal Orlando. Cheap food.

    Cons

Management ONLY looks at the dollar signs and couldn't care less about employees, work conditions, employee pay, employee moral, etc. The company has been laying off employees multiple times per year without a thought about how it affects employee moral. Communication to employees regarding these big decisions is ZERO. Most employees find out big SeaWorld news from the local news. To be a full time Educator you must have a degree. You must pass tests and verbal assessments. Educators staff exhibits and are responsible for the safety of guests and animals. Educators are paid the same amount as an entry level operations person with no experience required. A year ago, after raising the minimum pay to $12, thus matching what Educators make, the company has yet to increase educator pay to compensate for the drastic skill differences between positions.

    Advice to Management

    1) Fix the pay gap between entry level positions and skilled positions. Your skilled labor should be fairly compensated above what entry level positions make. 2) STOP staggering layoffs. If you need to make the cuts, MAKE THE CUTS and be done with it. STOP holding the threat of layoffs over your employees heads. 3) Communicate internally with your employees. Be proactive, honest, and thoughtful with your communication to your ambassadors. 4) Be PROACTIVE and a leader in the industry regarding employee pay/treatment. You're currently just reacting to what the other theme parks are doing.

    Pros

SeaWorld is a phenomenal place to work aside from all financial troubles. Its extremely rewarding to work there for a person that is an animal lover.

    Cons

The entertainment department is poorly managed, the new CEO is a complete micro-manager (yes, the CEO), and the company is completely misappropriating budgets in the attempts to get more guests. They do NOT pay anywhere near what each position is worth. You will be selling yourself short financially if you work here.

    Advice to Management

Stop making excuses and pay your ambassadors what they are worth. Guest ratings will go up if you make sure your ambassadors are appreciated.

    Pros

Great friends, Great animals to visit, the mission is phenomenal! Discounts were decent but not over the moon.

    Cons

Overall feeling of going to hell in a handbasket. Focus should be on animals not another Rollercoaster. The feeling you are going to be stabbed in the back is always there as you watch people, good people leave. You get scheduled tons of hours for a couple weeks and then essentially nothing, but you can't work a second job because of your availability needs to be almost 24-7. Over the years I've watched people arrive to work happy and excited to be there dwindle to just putting in time and collecting a paycheck. Not only are you getting barked at by guests but if you don't sell enough that day you can bet you'll be barked at by management too!

    Advice to Management

Trust your front line employees when they are telling you what must improve. They actually might have a good idea. LISTEN. Focus on doing the right thing and the money will take care of itself. Happy ambassadors means happy guests and more money. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and feeling bad. Focus on the good. Focus on our legacy and stop trying to reinvent us with inferior fun stuff that is just like any other theme park.

    Pros

    Friends, cheapish lunch, easy promotions

    Cons

Bad leadership, HR is a joke, thrown in the dark and “you’ll figure it out”, mistreatment of animals: they turn on lights at nighttime like they aren’t supposed to pet OSHA rule since they are supposed to get their sleep. they will throw you under the bus for anything. lots of favoritism more than anywhere i’ve ever worked

    Advice to Management

Need to be way more aware of what happens overnight, way too many rules being broken actually important rules that could get the park closed
