    I have been working at Seagate Technology full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    It is a good experience in an R&D group to learn from staff engineers how they think about solving problems;
    People are very nice and there is good communication between teams;
    Mentors assigned to interns are nice and good at teaching;
    Work/life balance and working environment is good, at least for R&D groups.

    Cons

    Not too much training classes for interns.

    I have been working at Seagate Technology as an intern (More than a year)

    Pros

    Competitive wage as far as internships are concerned, and the job is challenging and rewarding. The company is very flexible with the hours that you work, as long as you hit the 40 hour mark.

    Cons

    The learning curve can be quite steep (depending on what area you're working in).

    I have been working at Seagate Technology full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Is a World wide company with vast resources and many different opportunities relating to all things data storage. They are currently are positioning themselves to continue to be an industry leader in a changing storage media environment.
    The benefits are fairly industry standard, which is to say they are good. There are always opportunities for internal career movement and they do a good job of allowing for a good work life balance.

    Cons

    It is a very large company and can make one feel small especially when decisions come down from on high that seem arbitrary. Recently they have been downsizing and expecting more from fewer employees creating opportunities for challenge but also high levels of pressure/stress.

    I worked at Seagate Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Very good work culture, when things are good. Nice workout facilities and training staff. Nice outdoor basketball hoop. The best thing I can say is that decisions are generally driven with data.

    Cons

    Storage industry is volatile. Seagate has been going through a cycle of layoffs almost every 4 years. So while it can be good most of the time, it can be stressful.

    Advice to Management

    You guys are really dropping the ball on how you handle layoffs. I have heard recently that the most recent 2016 layoffs were not handled well. Walking people out the door who had been with Seagate over 30 years without giving them the opportunity to even send a goodbye e-mail. When I was employee, the layoffs were handled with more dignity.
