I have been working at Seagate Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with. In team working relationships are great. Cross functional relationships are a bit more difficult.

    Cons

Very silo'ed company with cross functional team having difficulties. Management under values IT greatly even though the entire company runs on IT. Lack of good applications integrations between corporate systems. Constant threat of Layoffs. Very little opportunity for career advancement.

I worked at Seagate Technology full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great work life balance, company was great at allowing workers to leave for doctors appointments, etc without counting against them. Anything health related was taken as priority over working. The people who work there are friendly (at least in firmware) and helpful, made great friends at the company.

    Cons

Management is unorganized, hard to move up in the company, large gap between younger employees and senior employees which resulted in a lot of tribal knowledge which wasn't getting passed down. Seems like layoffs were frequent during my time there.

    Advice to Management

Need to find ways to keep younger guys around.

    Pros

Strong groups and very smart employees, the infrastructure in place is great to meet customer demands.

    Advice to Management

Invest more in your employees. You offer good compensation and incentives but dont forget how valuable you engineers are to the core business.
