    Pros

I do what I want, when I want. Pay is ok.

    Cons

Bonus, stock suck. Management sucks, they checked out a long time ago.

    Advice to Management

Pay attention to the devices and apps your kids are using. No one buys HDD anymore.

    Pros

The working conditions very good. The object was to produce a product and was focused on getting a product to market

    Cons

There was limited communications between management and the Engineering personnel. Engineering did not impact the decision making as it should have.

    Advice to Management

Make a better product. The drives should be designed to move to a higher plateau of performance at all times, not only to reduce costs.

I worked at Seagate Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits, very good 401K where they match 50%. ESPP, bonuses (when you get them) and great people

    Cons

Constant change, some change is needed but there is too much there. Poor leadership being hired in that don't know what they are doing. Lots of really bad decisions being made overall. Very little work/life balance, if you are looking for a job you get to come home to your family and spend time this probably isn't the place you want to work. You will have to work all kinds of hours and have meetings early and late. You most likely will be taking over a job that 3 or 4 people use to do and expected to figure out how to do it by yourself. Keep in mind if you don't work those hours or take on all that work, you will most likely be on the next restructuring plan (hint laid off).

    Advice to Management

Communication is horrible in that company, you have people who don't want to tell the Presidents or Sr Management stuff because they are afraid of losing their jobs, when you do the internal pulse, read what people write for once. You keep letting go of non revenue generating people - HELLO, how in the world do you think stuff gets done around that place, its the people you keep letting go. So, while you sit there and hire more sales people and cut their supporting staff and wonder why sales is down, they have to figure out how to get stuff done themselves because you cut all their support staff. THINK people THINK!

I worked at Seagate Technology full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Technology challenges are large and it is great to work in an organisation the tackles them

    Cons

Currently the Disc Drive industry feels like it has run its course. Large emphasis on cost cutting in terms of pay benefits and jobs

    Advice to Management

Current plan is to manage down the size of the company while having a large dividend.for the stockholders. This is not a plan for growth or one will attract and hold talent

I worked at Seagate Technology as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great people to work with and had opportunities to network with high level executives include the CEO, CTO and president of the company.

    Cons

Lack of guidance at times during my time there as there was a lot of 'politics' going on in my division which meant figuring out a lot of stuff on my own. Not necessarily a bad thing but was sometimes difficult to track down the right person to get the right information

Many smart people. Some not so smart, like at any company.

    Cons

Overly corporate/bureaucratic. No appetite for risk or innovation, difficult for a technology company.

    Pros

Good pay, health, dental, life insurance, vacation accrual, sick time that gets bought back, and re-issued at the end of the year, performance bonuses, ESPP, 401k with 50% match, decent severance package and free storage products

    Cons

Probably one of the worst things about working there is that they can lay you off at a moment's notice.

    Advice to Management

    Need to be better qualified
