I worked at Sears full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Absolutely none!!! My last day today after 10 years of service! Good luck to you all! I will never work there ever again.

    Cons

Too many metrics, micromanagement, ungrateful management; I was a million dollar seller 4-years in a row and was never appreciated. Does not matter to any levels of management...all you are is a number (and no one is perfect). Commissions over the past 10-years have only been restructured at the deficit of the employee. Pay your bills to your vendors, maybe your company will have sooner availability for its appliances! I have had customers (wait, members) having their appliances back ordered for months...(or, insufficient quantity to fill order) lmao! Eddie Lampert has no consideration for the company and seems to do everything in his power to disassemble the company piece by piece. It make absolutely no sense to sell off ownership of the stores...really? When a company owns their building, it stands to reason your overall margin will be higher...if you rent back the store for $140,000/month, YOUR COMPANY WILL FAIL!!!!!! Idiot!

    Advice to Management

Jump ship, treat your employees with respect!

I worked at Sears part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The discount is 20% but that's about it.

    Cons

The company does not care about their employees. No one considers feelings and how harsh they come off when shouting about metrics. You have no control over how many people say yes to a credit card or how many people want their email spammed. I'm not one to be pushing signing up on someone if they don't want to.

    Advice to Management

Lay off the metrics, and focus on training your employees. Also, be clear on what certains requirements and rules are for cashiers. every cashier thought a different thing about the rules.

I worked at Sears (More than a year)

    Pros

I loved my job, awesome coworkers, when I was wrongfully terminated, I was reinstated quickly with pay for the time was off.

    Cons

Poor communication regarding policy, I got swindled out of my PTO, you never do just your job. I was pricing Specialist but often had to cover sales with no commission earned. Horrible employee appreciation, never a thank you or raise in over a year. Terminated me when I raised a stink about my PTO they didn't pay me.

    Advice to Management

Say thanks sometime, be more open with employees especially when you see them in a hole.

    No structure or leadership
You have to jump through a million hoops just to find one answer..
All the store nationwide appear to be a scat show
Store gms and agms will make you do all the managerial things, even though you don't get paid for it, and won't consider you a " manager"

    Cons

too much ipad use! and too many customers complaining of the time it took to ring up a sale! lastly: too many qwestions to ask the consumer...........many were fed-up halfway thru the sale completion!!

    Advice to Management

manager was giving us all intense verbal abuse...each and every day..the abuse...we are shocked he is still at sears.

    Pros

Big company, lots of benefits, top of the line equipment, big customer lists. A place for every person, every person in their place.

    Cons

Upper management has sworn allegiance to metrics, and to the metrics shall everyone serve-even customers. Your work life is bound to the metrics.

    Advice to Management

Too bad about that, many customers resent metrics strongly and have taken their business elsewhere. Flexible and timely response to customers wins every time.
