I worked at Sears full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

You are rewarded (praised) for providing good customer service. If you get a positive review you get like an "award" certificate thing. At least I did.

    Cons

    -Terribly outdated technology
-(for me) they valued the customers WAY more than the employees.
    -VERY poor pay
-hard to compete with other high end retailers in fine jewelry so customers complain about quality of merchandise
-Loss Prevention was ALWAYS on my back no matter what I did
    -Store usually looked terrible

    Advice to Management

Put more effort into modernizing your technology and into the appearance of your stores.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Sears part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Really is overall a great place to shop in my opinion. Very few stores have this balance of items. The work environment is generally positive in my experience.

    Cons

High turnover seems to be common, even in the management positions, so the job culture can be uneasy and constantly shifting.

    Advice to Management

Use more positive reinforcement!! Being negative all the time never motivates anyone. You'll catch more flies with honey than vinegar. :)

    Negative Outlook

I have been working at Sears part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I love to help customers pick that perfect gift for someone, I'm also a person that my customers feel comfortable talking to, sometimes they just need a friendly face, it's not about the sale, it's about my customers feeling better after they've talked to me.

    Cons

No advancement and hours fluctuate, one week I could work 32 hours and another week I can work 20 hours, I've applied for a higher position and they hired someone with no experience that worked 2 weeks and quit, but I'm still there doing what I do best.

    Advice to Management

I am a very hard worker that love my job and everything about it, I wish management would recognize that, you would not be disappointed hiring me, please do not pass me by.

I have been working at Sears full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I love the people I work with. I enjoy creating new displays, signing in the mornings, and putting new product out.

    Cons

The pressure put on hitting numbers other than sales goals. No raises unless you switch positions. Being forced to sell poorly made product that falls apart within 3 months. Hour cuts with no apparent consideration for how many hours it takes to do tasks or staff a department.

    Advice to Management

If you're going to put so much pressure on your employees you should offer raises.

    Pros

Minimal hours, great people to work with. Enjoyed the atmosphere a lot. Worked 2 nights a week and on Sundays. Decent discount

    Cons

No benefits if your worked part time. Had to stand all day. Didn't like pushing the Sears card on every transaction m

    Advice to Management

Not bad but for part time management was a little unyielding

I worked at Sears part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Nothing really. It was a really bad experience and I hope to never find a job like that one. Hopefully with time either the store will close or upgrade.

    Cons

Worked in.a.commission area and had to also work.in.three other areas. Horrible pay mine was 6.50 plus commission but I never made alot because they constantly had us working in.other departments. The managers and store manager had bad attitudes and they talked down to you. They cursed and made that place horrible to.work.in.

    Advice to Management

Hire better trained associates. Almost everyone had a nasty attitude and were not.helpful.

I worked at Sears part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are a people person then you get to work with people and provide customer service, you get a discount on items in the store and online purchases.

    Cons

They expect you to have no life and to work without hesitation or having other commitments. They do not respect you trying to further your education. Are not customer oriented all they see is numbers for sales, credit sign-ups or reward program sign-ups.

    Advice to Management

Truly care about your associates and what they are doing with their lives. Be supportive of the people who are trying to do their jobs.
