I worked at Sears full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Much of the staff consisted of long-term associates that knew what they were doing and were equally pleased to continue doing it.

    Cons

Company is dying. Poor decisions from the top-down and unrealistic expectations. If you can handle pressure and not crush your subordinates, have at it.

    Advice to Management

Focus on what works and where you've built your name. Beef up Appliance, Auto, and Home Improvement areas and stop trying to hang on to the clothing market. Shop Your Way is the best rewards program I've ever encountered. Find a way to get the particulars to the public.

I have been working at Sears full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Most of my managers have been great. I have always felt that they had my back. Even if their hands are tied where it counts.

    Cons

The company is scattered and disorganized with no clear focus. With each new senior leadership change money is spent on new processes that go nowhere.

    Advice to Management

Figure out what the customer wants.

I worked at Sears part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The better you are at selling the very elusive protection agreement the more money you are able to make. Can be a relaxed place to work when you know what you are talking about.

    Cons

Seems like each store tells customers something different when it comes to a store policy so you are constantly trying to solve issues that should not be present in the first place. Large disconnect from corporal to the retail level.

    Advice to Management

Get more involved with the sales floor and help out

I worked at Sears full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Management staff was great-very supportive. Lots of responsibility and opportunities.

    Cons

Short staffed the majority of the time-corporate cut our hours down and shop lifters had a field day as we only had a few people to cover an entire store.

    Advice to Management

Corporate gets in the way and are only concerned with what they can drain out of this once great company...employees and the customer get caught in the middle.
