I have been working at Seaspan as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    1. Inherent Safety culture.
    2. Salary is good, especially for the top 4.
    3. Good people to work with, especially on bigger ships.
    4. Average age of ships is low. Although some new ships also have problems as they are Chinese built.
    5. The best company to work as a cadet.
    6. Emphasis on training.
    7. Multinational crew (can be a pro or con acc to preference).
    8. Have 2-3 ratings, 1 cadet (not sure), EO and Fitter in Engine room.
    9. Office support is OK.

    Cons

    1. Very very slow promotion. They have a system of CDI , wherein you have to submit answers to a questionnaire send to you from the office. I find it very lame since you are already qualified to work at that rank , plus the fact that CDI is mostly a cut/copy/paste exercise.
    2. No internet onboard, yet.
    3. Food. Cooks are mostly from Philippines except on Express class ships which have Sri Lankan cooks.
    4. Some ships are Chinese ships, including most of the new builds.
    5. Cadets are pampered , although this approach is changing.

    Advice to Management

You guys are doing a good job. Just give Internet please. Cheers !
