I have been working at Seaspan full-time

    Pros

Employees here are empowered to realize their full potential with myriad opportunities to train and do really well in their jobs. Free onsite gym, free hot beverage provided. There are also lots of social events and perks. Nice natural environment, friendly coworkers, group yoga, great health benefits, flex hours, supportive leaders and excellent pay make this company one of the best employers to work for.

    Cons

Traffic is quite horrible if you drive and do not live within the vicinity. Start early and leave early if you can so traffic congestion will not be an issue.

    Advice to Management

Do not lose sight of the fact that your most important asset are your employees who work very hard to make Seaspan a great company that it is today.

    Positive Outlook

I worked at Seaspan as a contractor (Less than a year)

    Pros

Relatively small IT department and I worked with small project teams with knowledgeable resources. Decisions can be made relatively quickly due to the few layers of IT management hierarchy.

    Cons

Small teams can also mean limited resources and when there are concurrent IT projects that are same priority, it can be more difficult to manage and achieve targets. Lightweight IT processes can get things done quickly but balance shifts could result in fruitful overall quality, cost & productivity benefits.

    Advice to Management

I'd recommend that having an IT architect (at least part time) resource to provide guidance and alignment of both short term and long term initiatives and technical direction would help to streamline IT investment and portfolio.
