    Pros

Management genuinely cares about its employees. Administration celebrates employees' birthdays and frequently displays their appreciation by doing things like bringing in breakfast treats. Management does its best to communicate priorities, goals, and changes in direction to staff in a collaborative and timely manner.

    Cons

Very limited work from home opportunities, making work/life balance challenging. The pay is far less than the industry standard. Dress code is business casual, but the client and all other vendors wear jeans. Many of the Securitas staff work in an open office environment. If you're lucky enough to get an office, it's three people to an office due to overcrowding in the building.

    Advice to Management

It's the employees that make this account so successful, While competitive pay rates would be fantastic, permitting greater work l life balance (like more work from home opportunities) and casual dress doesn't cost anything and would do wonders at improving morale and reducing turnover.

I have been working at Securitas Security Services USA full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

My location has ton of overtime available, hours are pretty flexible if you can get someone to switch shifts with you. You’re part of a team and you genuinely grow into a family who have an in it together mentality. You can work as much as you want, I make about 52k a year as a guard with overtime.

    Cons

You usually have to work holidays, you are pressured into taking hours that you can’t work or don’t want to. There is no differential for third shift. Turnover is high so you will frequently have to stay late if a guard quits out of the blue or no calls no shows. Some people are a pain to get along with. The client doesn’t always respect security as much as their own employees. Very limited chance at advancement. Favorites are certainly played, so you will have to play the leadership in order to become a respected guard. New people are treated like crap until they rise in the ranks of seniority.

    Advice to Management

Pay your guards better and your turnover will be lower. Also give us some time with our families! We can’t be expected to drop everything all the time for you guys. Offer more opportunity for advancement. Give us more ways to communicate with the corporate office.

    Pros

    Usually good pay
    Can get good hours.
You can pick up shifts for more money.
    Management can be great.

    Cons

How much you enjoy your time an Securitas depends entirely on your manager. I happened to have a really good manager who cared about his employees. But, my interactions with the other managers told me that most of them were not so good and didnt care about their employees. A lot of the time it seemed that managers were really overworked and are hard to get in contact with. Aside from management, the other employees are usually worse than anything else on this job. A lot of them are lazy and dont want to do their job properly, making you pick of the slack. Either that or they taking things way too seriously. If you can get a nice assignment then you will really like this job. Things are NOT black and white with Securitas, your job could be good, could be bad. But don't get me wrong, I really like my time working for them. I had a comfortable assignment, and a good manager. However, if you don't like what you're given, its pretty difficult to change. Keep your expectations low.

    Pros

If you work for the right Branch Manager then you will get treated professionally. Lots of overtime! They have clients call for extra detail. Usually sitting in your car or in an empty building under construction. Joe is the best to work for!!!

    Cons

If you work for the wrong branch manager then you're liable to get screamed at for the smallest of mistakes. You will eventually get stuck working for an unprepared double if your relief does not show up.

    Advice to Management

Valley View office needs to get rid of the angry people!
