I have been working at Security Finance Corporation of Spartanburg full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the people you meet

    Cons

The hours are the worst. No one wants to be working after 6 in the evening. The only thing you can do past 5 is collection calls where you have already called them earlier that day. the late nights do not make any sense. also for vacation time you must know by Jan 30 what you are going to be requesting for the year. tell me who knows exactly what you want to do on your vacation and what days you want at the begining of the year. no one. and yes you are only allowed to take vacation in the two middle weeks of May through October. This is ludicris. But the superviors can take theìrs anytime.

    Advice to Management

Please understand that we are grown people. no more dumb games to pit each territory against each other. Supervisors learn how to help us out. Why can you give use some helpful tools to skip chase. we cant field work anymore but you didnt replace that with anything. you expect us to figure out how to find these people without going out to find them.

I worked at Security Finance Corporation of Spartanburg full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    The medical benefits are good

    Cons

This worst leadership of any company I have ever worked for in 25 years. Lots of backstabbing, lying and treating employees like animals. Some offices make employees roll around on the floor if they look tired. Some offices break the law by writing down credit card numbers from customers that call in to reuse for the next payment but they are not supposed to do that. The Branch Managers can do whatever they like to their employees and no one will stand up for them and if you do they just find a reason to fire you. The VPs and Supervisors are nice to your face but as soon as you turn around they are finding ways to make your life miserable and they will sink to any low.

    Advice to Management

Put cameras in the offices for security purposes but also so you can see what is going on in there. Replace VPs every 5 years and take action when accusations are made by FIXING the problem not eliminating the person bringing it to your attention. WAKE UP .. the power hungry monsters are ruining your company. Turn over is insane and I promise you 100% of it is because of Branch Manager/Supervisor/VP drama or unprofessional management practices.

I have been working at Security Finance Corporation of Spartanburg full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The insurance premium is reasonable for now. We are provided a one hour lunch. You meet many wonderful people.

    Cons

The schedule is usually 8:45-6 Mon and Friday, 8:45-5 Tues-Thurs. However if your numbers are not pristine, you will be required to work late nights until 7 or 8, as well as Saturdays 8-12 or 9-1. You cannot take vacation the last week of the month or the first week of the month, nor anytime November-April 15. There have been many changes that make it more difficult to meet the numbers, yet the higher ups have yet to adjust the objectives, which means no bonuses for months. If you happen to end up working by yourself they make you clock out for lunch but you are still required to remain open and doing work. My Branch Manager is a nightmare. You have to travel to a meeting once or twice a year which highly unnecessary to pull you away from your office and your families. You get tired calling the same people over and over trying to collect their money.

    Advice to Management

Show that you care for your employees. Adjust bonuses. Stop having assistant manager meetings.

    Pros

Great pay and advancement. You will bonus depending on numbers.

    Cons

The hours are to long specially if you have family, and if you don't meet your goals they will make you work longer hours and weekends until you do so.

    Advice to Management

Care more about your employees opinions.

    Pros

Affordable Health Insurance, Work saturdays till noon usually only twice a month.

    Cons

When hired told only work "occasional late night" Actually work late nights, sometimes till 8pm twice a week, when you don't hit your unrealistic goals. These late nights vary from month to month due to company constantly changing its mind on the standards that require late nights. This job is 85% collections.

    Pros

Bonuses each month, Ability to be versatile at work, 9am start time, great benefits.

    Cons

Bonuses are only received if entireoffice meets goals, so if they don't work hard then you don't bonus even if you do work hard, ability to leave office is only to work in the field (drivng your personal vehicle) and only to chase customers who owe money by going and knocking on their home doors and at work, which can be very dangerous at times, your bonus depends on how much money you actually collect from customers who havent paid their loan over 30 days, Very late nights throughout the week and it varies never the same, they change hours to punish workers for not collecting enough money from bad debt customers, every last day of month you are mandatory to stay if office until after 9pm at night and only when the manager lets you leave even though its illega to call or collect money from customers after 9pm at night. You dont even know the time you get off until they tell you so if you have a family its a huge con! Managers are very unorganized and due to the push of upper management to collect money you are pushed to lie to customers by scaring them into paying by telling them illegal things in order to collect money!

    Advice to Management

Just because a person has been at company longer does NOT make them the person for the job. Managers are unorganized and cant make decisions that are best for the office they manage due to having to wait for orders from area managers over the phone that arent even present or in the office long enough to even know whats best for the location and office. If having to wait on someone not local to te them what they can do....Then whats the point of having office managers? Its the definition of insanity working under that kind of micromanagement and the office will not grow being ran that way.

    Pros

When you realize you are making a difference in someones life by helping them financially it somewhat can make the day to day routine feel worth it. I will say that having the good customers that pay on time and meeting your branch goals is a very rewarding feeling though i must say.

    Cons

Making the same calls to the same people everyday gets irritating. People are not going to pay their loans if they dont want to and you cant force them to. Constantly soliciting to the same people every month is crazy especially if they have already said no; if they dont answer you are subject to call every week. All in all it just makes me feel like im hounding people. They dont tell you up front the extent of "late nights" you work or the extent and nature of the calls you make.
