I have been working at Security Industry Specialists full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I can't say enough good things about this place. The Seattle office is small, so you know everyone and everyone knows you. Everyone is cool. They seem to hire based on ability and cultural fit. It's not uncommon for people to just hang out in the office after work until the wee hours of the morning.

Lots of interesting projects to work on. If you're interested in something, they're very flexible on allowing you to work on it.

Lots of opportunity for movement. Many of the admin side employees started off as specialists and eventually moved into the office side of things. Just as many decide to stay in the field and work their way up through the ranks. There's no limit to where you can go and what you can do if you're good at your job and express an interest.

The office is run more like a tech company than what you would expect from a security company. Small, flexible teams that encompass several areas of the business. Everything is done from the perspective of "how can we improve our service to the customer" and "how can we make things better/easier for those in the field."

Incredibly flexible hours. I've known of some people that show up at around 4am and leave by noon or 1pm and others that show up around noon and leave around 8 or 9pm. As long as you're getting your work done, they seem to leave defining when that work happens up to you.

Pay is excellent, and I knew up front what the general expectation for pay would be. Tons of snacks in the kitchen. Nice location downtown Seattle.

    Cons

None that really matter a whole lot. You don't get eligible for benefits for 3 months (as a full time employee) or you've worked a certain number of hours. No eligibility for 401k until you've been there a year. If a holiday lands on a weekend, you don't get the preceding Friday or following Monday (whichever is appropriate) off unless you use vacation time, and the day after Thanksgiving is not a paid holiday. A more generous vacation package would be nice, but it's not a deal-breaker.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. This is a fantastic place to work. The Co-Presidents are visible, approachable, and pretty flexible. There are high standards, but any lower and this company wouldn't be as good as it is.

I have been working at Security Industry Specialists full-time

    Pros

SIS provides a rewarding and professional environment with their employees. Senior management has a very close relationship with all levels of employees which is virtually unheard of in the security industry. Employees are encouraged to provide input as to the overall operation and are rewarded for outstanding performance.

    Cons

There is nothing bad I can say.

I have been working at Security Industry Specialists full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Pay and benefits are good. SIS covers some of the cost for health, dental and eye insurance. They invest in the employee with screening and training. Not everyone will make the cut. Multiple locations around the world so you can transfer and keep your job.

    Cons

Advancement is slow mainly due to the employees being happy and not wanting to leave. It appears loyalty is important. Can't bring your pets to work like many cutting edge companies these days.

    Advice to Management

The CEO started at the bottom and worked his way up. Managers need to take the same approach, learn your subordinates jobs you will appreciate them more. Employees start looking outside if they are not stimulated and appreciated. Raises even small ones help.

I have been working at Security Industry Specialists full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    High pay, great opportunities, professionalism.
Here's the thing. If you are responsible, professional, show up to work ON TIME, and do your job properly, you're going to do well and go far. As long as you're not relegating yourself to one site for your entire career, you're gonna promote and succeed.

    Cons

You can't sleep at work, play on your phone, look unprofessional by sitting, or have a bad attitude. Terrible!

I really can't think of any worthwhile "cons". Just show up and do your job.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work.

I have been working at Security Industry Specialists full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Great Pay
    Awesome Team
Gets Your Foot In The Door
    The Client is Awesome

    Cons

Favorites- It seems that the managers will play favorites. It doesn't matter who applies for a different shift, who needs time, or who is voted for an award because it will come down to who their favorite employees are.
    No Room For Growth
    Rotating Schedule Changes Too Much
    Very Stressful
Not enough time for your personal life.

    Advice to Management

Try to work on choosing employees who actually work their butts off instead of the ones you like the most. Listen to your employees and not brush it off like its No Big Deal, they are in the field and notice problems that need to be fixed.

I have been working at Security Industry Specialists part-time

    Pros

Great benefits and even better locations

    Cons

Management is not the best because some of them allow employees work based on emotions, not the employee's actual merit and work ethic.

I have been working at Security Industry Specialists full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great pay at high profile clients, weekly pay, plenty of overtime and extra training available. Promotes from within whenever possible.

    Cons

Most areas do not have a local office, so everything goes through HQ in California. Causes issues with people getting away with stuff they shouldn't since upper management never sees it.

    Advice to Management

Remote offices closer to sites, or at least a corporate person in the area.
