      Pros

Management puts employees first, employees put members first -- and it really works. It's not just lip service.

      Cons

      Salaries lag other industries, slightly.

      Pros

-Work from home -Benefits -training is long but they don’t teach you half of what you need

      Cons

-Wouldn’t let me go part time after starting grad school and explaining to them that I have a disability and am solo parenting -Supervisors lack empathy they won’t send anything in email form they will only call you to tell you that you will not receive accommodations

      Good Place, Terrible Pay

      Pros

Training staff are very helpful and informative.

      Cons

Managers actively interfere with opportunities to advance within the company, volume of work rises seemingly exponentially, but salary does not.

      Pros

SSFCU is a fairly large company with a family culture. It is employee centric.

      Cons

Depending on the department, it seems that getting promoted can be a little in coming but... when it does, it is warranted.

      Pros

On-site facilities were great: gym, cafeteria, access to Leon Creek Greenway. Huge office space with lots of room for growth. Teams were very tight with each other and everyone (except for upper-level leadership) were interested in helping you grow and succeed.

      Cons

Upper-level leadership is very old school and stuck in their ways. Not much room for doing something different or creative.

      Good office job

      Pros

Overall, Security Service is a great place to work. The pay is good and the environment is great. They use a career path which allows you to move up and be promoted based on the work that you do rather than having to wait for someone to leave the credit union. Employees are cross trained so those on the teller line also do loans and new accounts once they are trained on those things. Helping members improve their finances can be quite satisfying.

      Cons

I didn’t love the Sales Process they have you certify on every 6 months. If you are good at getting products you can get away with doing it your own way if you have the right manager. Also would like to see the amount of sick time you can take off re-looked at, and maybe it will be after Covid. I always felt like I was expected to be at work unless I was puking or on my death bed since you can’t use all the sick time you have accrued unless you are on FMLA.

Good, but there’s a lot of fluff

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Easy to progress, lots of branch options, if you’re in Texas there are many back office positions if you don’t want to work with customers and most of those can be WFH because of the pandemic, not too sales-y

      Cons

Lots of lame games and competitions that you have to participate in, if you don’t live in Texas the only WFH option is the call center, masks at all times.

      Good intentions but bad leadership

      Pros

they take care of you and pay you well, good benefits options, work/life balance is ok.

      Cons

if you stay long you will not be paid well, leadership is bad and things are swept under the rug.
