      Bought by Twilio last year, great benefits Twilio leadership is some of the best in tech Segment CEO seems like a good guy Good opportunities for entry level grads

      Beware of HR and management

      Great benefits and perks-- ICs are friendly and extremely smart

      At Segment, management and HR are the most toxic group of people I've ever encountered. The level of effort they put in to make sure you cannot sue them for wrongful termination is beyond what I've seen. They do not treat people like humans and cut employees they've spent weeks interviewing all within a couple of months of employment just because they made a leveling mistake, inaccurately estimated the amount of work, etc. This has happened MULTIPLE times!!! At this rate, maybe Segment should reevaluate their interview processes and stop traumatizing people. There is literally a cohort of people who have been put on PIPs and let go with no explanation, had to sign an NDA, gaslit into thinking it was their fault. The messed up part is that if someone was fired, the managers just remove their name from everywhere and do not bring it up. This is terrible for team morale! I've seen people freaking out, confused, and worried it's going to happen to them. I'm serious when I say to BEWARE before you talk to your team's HR business partner because once you express frustration about your role or about the company, you will literally have a PIP waiting for you within the next couple days (managers will actually suggest you talk to them but it's a trap) HR is not what leadership advertises. They are there to weed out people who speak up. How they could take a job like that is beyond me. The managers are so inexperienced and on total power trips because upper-level VPS have favorites and let them do whatever they want.

      Pros

      Great team culture with fun events and perks. SDR org especially is world class, delivering top results every quarter driven by a leadership team that really cares about your success. Internal promotions are highly encouraged and common if you've shown success as an SDR.

      Cons

      Slight growing pains as we grow rapidly, and acquisition pains from Twilio. Twilio is much more by the books given it's a public company, which makes things feel like they are moving slowly. Quota is difficult to achieve across the entire Revenue org. They incentive you through competitions often, but obtaining 100% quota is a challenge and hitting accelerators is even harder. It's doable, but requires hard work. Working remotely makes it easy to always be working and harder to log off.

      Pros

      They have a nice office space in SF and they provide company swag once hired. They also have a masseuse onsite.

      Cons

      Segment lacks leadership and you really don’t have a voice. The HR Team doesn’t have the employees best interest at heart.
