I worked at Select Medical full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Consistent hours, quiet office, major paid holidays off

    Cons

My supervisors were very unprofessional. One sat with me twice a week and would just bark orders at me and made me feel very stupid and nervous all the time. The other one seemed nice at first but turned out she was documenting every instance of me asking her for help so that she could use it against me and fire me. This is a very shady company to work for, and the abysmal pay is not worth the headache.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers who actually have patience to assist new employees, as well as ones who aren't underhanded and self-serving.

I have been working at Select Medical full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

many opportunities for advancement, if you work hard and prove yourself. high stress environment due to insurance deadlines. positive environment, caring management. PTO, Hershey Park, Christmas Party, on the job training, team work, independence. great entry level position that could become a career if you work hard

    Cons

pay could be higher, negative employees left unchecked. Certain employees are allowed “a pass” for being rude or non responsive.

    Advice to Management

Raise starting rates to limit turnover

    Pros

Wonderful people to work with. SOME of the people are there to be a part of a team-the higher you go the less you see that!

    Cons

Pay, pay, pay. Love the job but can't afford to stay. They preach "Team" but are all about the dollar. NEPOTISM!!!

    Advice to Management

Become more competetive. People can't afford to live on the sallaries you offer. Pay attention to what your people are saying to you! The amount of money spent training people due to high turnover rates is such a waste. Pay the good employees so they will stay!

I worked at Select Medical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Not one thing we’ll maybe pay! The company is for profit so get ready to work Like dog . Except if you are black!

    Cons

4 CNO’s in 2.5 years. Supervisors are picked on how long they have been there, or who they are friends with, not their intelligence. Absolutely horrible benefits.
Staffing is really bad I left because I rarely saw anyone get better, not enough staff and the staff they had was horrible! STNA’s thought their breaks and lunch and smoke breaks came before patient care! Just a horrifying place!

    Advice to Management

Pick your supervisors on their skill level not because you are friends with them! Say good Morning to your staff. Get rid of the bad eggs! Learn how to talk to your nurses in a professional manner! Educate do not penalize! Basically learn how to manage not micro manage!
