I worked at Select Medical full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Company had great values and tried to put the patient first. The staff I worked with were really nice and hardworking. The leadership really cared about the employees.

    Cons

I felt like we were always understaffed. I also noticed that some of the hired CNA's did not care for the patient as they should have. Some CNA's would allow a patient to lay in their own defecation because they were just tired of cleaning up after them. That was very wrong,

    Advice to Management

Definitely continue to monitor and survey your employees. Make sure that they are still doing their job to the best of their abilities.

I worked at Select Medical full-time

    Pros

The facility administrators did their best trying to make the hospital a good place to work.

    Cons

Select system as a whole has many flaws. Their main goal is for profit, and that shows in the their policy and the way they run business. They turned once a family like environment into a cold business only oriented facility. Unrealistic expectations without good support.

    Advice to Management

To the facility specific management: Thank you for trying.
To Select Headquarters: Please honor your words.

I worked at Select Medical full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Make your own schedule. Set your own pace. Create your own marketing and business strategies for your assigned territory. Very flexible.

    Cons

Micromanaged to the max! Overwhelming pressure to acquire referrals and admits with no regards to the census' of referring hospitals. Management isn't clinically trained and strictly are numbers people.

    Advice to Management

Understand there's expectations and then there's reality. Numbers don't always tell the truth so if you want to maintain certain goals and change the culture of certain facilities then your administration needs to start getting their hands dirty on a daily basis. Stop putting so much pressure the jobs of staff members on your marketing team.
