I worked at Select Portfolio Servicing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The company has many great benefits, and is in a safe environment.

    Cons

The management especially in the customer service dept is horrible. They are micro managers and dislike to assist their supervisors, the managers in the customer dept. are lazy but they sure love to delegate work.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of the managers in your dept as they are too comfortable doing nothing the managers are too trusted and their word means nothing among the staff they are looked upon as puppets.

    Pros

The pay is great, and it has to be because the job is awful and money is not worth your sanity/happiness

    Cons

In the Loss mitigation/late stage collections department you will be yelled at by customers every single day, they will yell and scream and swear at you. This is the most frustrating job. On top of that management shows no appreciation for you and you constantly feel like you are in trouble or are going to be fired. Everyone Hates their job including management.

I worked at Select Portfolio Servicing full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

It was a job until it ended

    Cons

Lots of new employees coming thru constantly, like a revolving door. As others have said it's who you know, not what you know. Some people can get away with breaking the rules, absenteeism or being tardy constantly and others they throw the book at. You are hired as a collector but you are trained as a loss mitigation expert. They pay you for collecting and not the 80% of the loss mit work you do daily as in dealing with foreclosures, attorneys, realtors, short sales, DIL etc. It goes on and on....

    Advice to Management

    None they won't take it.

    Pros

The starting pay is ok. The building is new and nice. Some of the people are pretty cool. They have a good amount of PTO and vacation time available.

    Cons

The management sucks. They are super strict and micro managing . You are just a number the insurance sucks . Nothing is kept confidential. Employees do not matter to management. Pay raises suck and are rare. Hiring process is extremely long.

    Advice to Management

    Get your shiz together

I worked at Select Portfolio Servicing (More than 3 years)

    Pros

You get a paycheck every two weeks...

    Cons

Pretty much everything else... I frankly cannot begin to comprehend how these people are still in business after all the lawsuits they keep throwing money at. If certain agencies really knew what goes on "behind closed doors" this place would be shut down for good the next day. Management is a tremendous joke, they are extremely unprofessional and nasty to their employees. I was personally cursed at by the so called "manager" from the bankruptcy department on several occasions. Their policies and procedures are changed constantly to accommodate their unfair demands and sometimes without notice to their employees. There is zero respect for the employee, you are seen as an ant in a colony and when you stand up to them you end up in the chopping block. Good riddance!!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Get a life!!!!! Treat employees and customers like people not idiots or slaves. Your turnover is so ridiculous that if you're still in business in 5 years you'll need to outsource ALL of your operations to India because here in the USA no one will want to work for you.

    Pros

    None at this time

    Cons

They treat their employees like slaves. If you are not kissing someone's behind you get nowhere. This company throws 100 plus things to their employees. It doesn't matter if your sick. If you have emergencies, you get points and get dismissed. There's so much shadiness going on. You have supervisors in the early stage sleeping around with agents. There's only a small handful of respected supervisors and managers. Directors there are a joke. They don't know what the job is. They look good on paper but they are horrible. I've watched a manager just gossip all day. Never does any work. All you see was her gossiping with certain supervisors rather than help agents. You have agents so far up management's behind in order to move up. What kind of company is this. Scamming customers, saying we will help but in reality, they assess hidden fees or plans that they can't afford. There's favoritism, between management and some agents. There's a few managers and supervisors that let some agents be in meetings, trainings etc and they never get caught. There's been times where management have said to certain employees I'll erase a tardy or cover if they are in something they are not supposed to be in. There's a supervisor who should of been fired for sleeping with numerous agents.

    Advice to Management

Get your act straight. Show what value is! Stop treating agents like slaves. Where's the morality! Stop the favoritism. Value the hard working agents. Instead of micro managing agents, how about you do that with yourselves.

I worked at Select Portfolio Servicing full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Location, bonus, jeans most days, co-workers ( most of them ), and some supervisors. That's about all the pros with this company.

    Cons

Work life balance sucks. Management sleeps there way up the ladder. No recognition for hard working, loyal, and top performers. Management is trying to do better due to the low rating in glassdoor however it is all fake. The director slept her way to her position. Rarely works an 8 hour day let alone a 40 hour week. However if her employees call in or are late it's a point and looked at negatively. No one is held to the same standard. Sups/management do what they want and most don't really know what they are doing and never work a 40 hour work week. I can go on and on. This place is pure misery!! Do NOT apply here you might have a nice paycheck but you will be completely miserable!! It's not worth all distress and abuse you will receive working for SPS!!

    Advice to Management

Be held to the same standard as your employees. Quit sleeping your way to the top. Stop with the cliques. Work life balance needs to improve tremendously. Above anything else treat your knowledgable and dependable employees with some respect!

I worked at Select Portfolio Servicing full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Pay and co-workers. That's why they think they don't need to do anything outside of the regular benefits for the employees because they pay so well.

    Cons

Lack of communication, under staffed, unreasonable deadlines, no work/life balance, overtime is always the answer, favoritism, no cafeteria for a company with over 1000 people, unrealistic expectations, push their employees into the ground, no appreciation or acknowledgement, CEO and management aren't even happy to be there and just work for a paycheck. Negative energy, negative environment, I don't know one person who absolutely loves their job-people are always complaining they want to quit, yet they don't because of the money.

    Advice to Management

Fire everyone to put them out of their misery.
