I worked at Self Storage Management Co. full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed working here mainly for two reasons: the first was the group of people. It seemed like for the most part folks enjoyed their job, and were helpful towards their colleagues. The other was that they have a very rewarding tuition program that helps you to get ahead in academia.

    Cons

There are no medical benefits other than sick paid time off.

    Advice to Management

    Get medical for the employees.

    Pros

Lots of down time which enables me to read and study for school.

    Cons

No promotion opportunities. Full time managers live on site. Managers over-manage the position.

    Advice to Management

Manage person-to-person; leave the notes at home.

    Pros

They at least attempt to cover up the shortcomings with various different distractions; company parties and such.
My current manager is the best manager ever.
I believe, for the most part, that the people at the head of the company have a good heart. It's a small company.
It's challenging and overall pretty lax.

    Cons

I've not even checked pay at other places, but the pay seems way too low seeing as how you don't get benefits AT ALL!!!! WHATSOEVER! PERIOD! Also, I've been there a year and not had a raise. It seems like they try everything in their power to NOT pay you sometimes. I've shown considerable growth and am still at $10.00/hour. It's almost depressing. I make the least of everyone i know...
Some things that happened were a bit underhanded, but it's not too big a deal.

    Advice to Management

Adjust the raise system. PLEASE!!! PLEASE???!!!

    Pros

    stable industry with continual growth

    Cons

turnover in owners of the facilities

    Advice to Management

comunicate with the managers about any proposal for selling the facility. Have realistic expectations about the overall occupancy levels.
